Cabela’s has an opportunity for a Sr. Creative Designerin our merchandising operations department. This position is located at our corporate office in Sidney, Nebraska.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position offers creative ability and experience in the design and development of Cabela's branded products. The incumbent must use knowledge of product, materials, and fabrication to develop accurate, comprehensive computer aided designs that will enable vendors/suppliers to develop accurate prototype samples. The incumbent is well integrated with business partners and independently drives and manages external partner relationships. Incumbent offers advice for new products, improvements, style, and design to the Creative Development Manager, and business partners. The incumbent is active in the mentoring/training of the Creative Design I and II. The incumbent is very knowledgeable about the outdoor industry and can apply industry insight to Cabela’s. The incumbent has experience in design and necessary software (Adobe Creative Suite, Solidworks or similar, & Microsoft Office). Position works closely with the Creative Designer II, cross-functional partners, and external design partners. This position reports to the Creative Design Manager.
KEY DUTIES:
• Design-Design relevant Cabela’s branded products while utilizing market research, trend analysis, and assortment planning. The Senior Creative Designer must lead the development of complete design packages to ensure that their work can be interpreted in a manner that internal, and external partners can utilize.
• Communication-Lead the communication of design packages for cross-functional and external design resources. This includes in developing product briefs, product concepts, tear sheets, and product marketing documents.
• Calendar adherence-Lead the maintenance of accurate status reports and visual aids. Work closely with the Creative Development Manager, and Creative Designer/Developer to ensure projects are prioritized and target milestone dates are given and achieved for both internal and external projects. Ensure accurate data is entered into finalized and filed accordingly. Work with multiple departments and their timelines to ensure that key milestones are met.
• Product Review-Evaluate prototype and pre-production samples to ensure all end use benefits and features are achieved. Partner with internal and external business partners to communicate corrections with the vendor. Present evaluation results to all internal and external teams.
• Trend Research-Continuously is up to date as it relates to market relevant trends. This includes, but is not limited to: Technology, color, construction, brands, retail strategies, marketing strategies, demographics of targeted consumer, current consumer base trends, etc. Working in conjunction with business partners, Creative Development Manager, and external resources the Senior Creative Designer will compile all trend research in a format to be presented and used as the seasonal direction for Cabela's branded product lines.
• Travel-work with foreign factories, domestic factories, and raw material suppliers to oversee the development of prototypes. Partner with these resources to leverage their expertise in design and manufacturing.
• Lead the maintenance of design/development resources. This includes samples, color swatches, materials, equipment and other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 4 to 6+ years relevant experience required.
• Adobe Suite, 3D CAD required; Microsoft proficient required; must have an education in design, materials, and/or quality; Experience with SolidWorks preferred; Experience in collaborating on development projects with multiple partners.
• Bachelor's Degree in Apparel, Industrial Design, or related studies
