An intern in the design department will be immersed in the world of design within a vertical retail organization. You will be a part of a cross-functional team, and be exposed to all areas of design, technical design, and product development. You will be exposed to computer programs such as Kaledo and Illustrator in order to fill mini bodies as well as assist designers with their day-to-day tasks all while being mentored by experienced members of the design community.
Responsibilities Include:
• Partake in fittings, cross-functional team meetings
• Sketch flats (front/back/seaming/stitch lines) to put into PLM computer system
• Put prints into PLM system for design purposes
• Fill mini body dolls in Illustrator
• Filing/organizing sample hangings as well as setting up for trend overviews
• Help with design and trend forecasting for future seasons
• Be a part of the overall design process from beginning to end
• Attend design flow meetings
• Attend costing meetings to gain an understanding of how design and product development is budgeted for within a vertical company
Requirements
• Availability to work 40 hours per week June-August 2017
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising, design, or a related field
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Understanding of Illustrator and Photoshop
• Great attitude and thirst for knowledge
• Organized and flexible
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel
