Catherines 10 week summer internship program will prepare you to work at the home office of a retailer, putting you a step ahead of your competition.

An intern in the planning department will spend the summer immersed in the world of analysis and forecasting within a vertical retailer. You will support the planning team with reporting, research, and analyses of sales and inventory data. You will take part in daily recapping of promotional cadence data assembly. You will also partner with the merchandising interns on higher-level projects within a cross-functional environment. You will have a real life business case that you and a group of fellow interns will come up with a solution to, as well as present your findings to company executives and managers. You will have the opportunity to take part in department presentations by senior-level management to learn about Catherines as a whole.
• Attend all milestone meetings in order to observe and understand the role planning plays within a cross-functional team
• Be exposed to the retail environment and the ways a vertical retailer is different from a traditional retailer
• Take part in sales re-caps every week in order to understand the retail environment and what factors play a role in the ups and downs within the industry
• Learn how to use MicroStrategy to gather and analyze data, assemble it into presentable information
• Use advanced functions in Excel to organize data in a way that makes it readily available to planners and management
Requirements
• Must be available to work 40 hours per week June-August 2017
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, finance or other business or retail-related field
• Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Have an advanced understand of Microsoft Excel and be able to create pivot tables as well as other sophisticated Excel functions
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Have a thirst for knowledge and positive attitude
• Retail experience not required, but preferred
