POSITION SUMMARY:
Sephora is looking for a Director for our growing Digital Marketing Analytics Team! Come help build a leading analytics program at one of the most innovative eCommerce companies in the country.
The Marketing Analytics team helps drive strategy by synthesizing performance metrics into actionable insights across multiple marketing channels including: Email, Paid Search, Organic Search, Display, Affiliates, and Mobile. Additionally, you will act on the forefront of analytics in emerging media, including social, video, community, and other brand-building efforts.
In this role, you will create and lead the development of a world-class analytics function to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of Digital Marketing. You will be responsible for building out a digital marketing analytics roadmap and a holistic view on marketing performance by leveraging state-of-the-art analytics tools (i.e. VisualIQ, Adobe, SAS, Tableau). Key projects include Attribution, Testing, Personalization, and Channel Optimization. You will also be responsible for hiring, developing, and mentoring the Marketing Analytics team. This role is highly visible, and works closely with Marketing, Product Management, and IT.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop & execute strategies to personalize digital experiences of Sephora clients at the client / segment level
• Provide clear insights to senior leadership around digital marketing effectiveness
• Create measurement best practices, analytical processes, and consistent methodologies
• Evaluate effectiveness / ROI of each marketing vehicle, with the goal of helping the organization understand the best way to optimize spend against key marketing objectives
• Lead and develop strategy for reporting, testing, analyzing and forecasting all digital marketing channels
• Act as an advocate with senior leadership to (cost effectively) drive top-line digital and offline sales
• Partner with Product, IT, and Marketing teams to develop requirements for tracking, tagging and sourcing data
• Integrate disparate data sources and tools (vendor reporting platforms, Adobe Analytics, SAS) to deliver integrated, actionable insights
• Manage relationships with digital analytics vendors on all aspects of data reporting, visualization, & integration
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Direct experience with analytics and leveraging data to uncover actionable business insights
• Working knowledge of client (customer), testing, eCommerce, and marketing channel performance metrics
• Deep analytics experience with Paid Media (at least Display and Search marketing channels)
• Retail industry experience in a heavily data-driven environment preferred
ANALYTICS REQUIREMENTS:
• Understanding of database capabilities and experience integrating, structuring, and analyzing large amounts of data from diverse sources
• Proficient analytics & SQL programming skills; experience with SAS/SQL preferred
• Strong statistical skills and advanced knowledge of Test/Control & measurement methodologies. Ability to draw conclusions from data and drive action accordingly
• Expert level understanding of Microsoft Office suite especially Excel and PowerPoint and how to ‘tell a story’ that provides insight into the business by leveraging data
• Proficient using enterprise-level digital analytics platforms (e.g., Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, etc.)
• A working understanding of attribution and the differences between rules-based last click attribution versus algorithmic multi-touch attribution. Preference will be given to candidates with experience with VisualIQ or another attribution platform. Experience with Media Mix Modeling a plus
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience optimizing paid media channels through advanced Marketing and Ad Tech
• Preference will be given to candidates that also have an understanding of Big Data technology and Visualization tools, and how to leverage these platforms to blend data from multiple data sources to help answer key business questions
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
• BA/BS required
• MBA or advanced degree preferred
• 8+ years of experience in an analytics role
• Preference for 3-5 years of direct experience managing people
• Strong leadership skills: ability to motivate, inspire, coach and develop team members
• Ability to manage team priorities, work cooperatively, influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a very fast paced environment
• Positive attitude, strongly motivated and passion for developing a cohesive, high-performance team
• Demonstrated ability to effectively present complex data analysis and communicate actionable insights to senior leadership
• High level of initiative and proven ability to work independently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem solving skills; ability to take initiative on resolving issues then partner with management to communicate
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to stay focused on business goals and communicate analytics insights to all levels of the organization
• Impeccable attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to indirectly manage and build strong relationships and consensus across diverse teams and personality types
