The diversity of our operations has recently created an opportunity for a new Director – Global Logistics in our Enfield, CT offices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage Talent through talent acquisition, succession planning and professional development, reward and recognition, performance management and fair pay practices to support department and Company growth and talent retention. Create a workplace that fosters credibility, respect, fairness, camaraderie and pride to retain talent and drive for business results.
• Provide direction and oversight for all aspects of logistics supporting the business needs and future direction of the company. This includes overall direction for tracking/tracing systems, contracts, domestic and international shipping, non-merchandise moves, product costing, freight payments and claims. Develop reports and policies to assure proper alignment of the logistics processes in meeting companies goals and business objectives.
• Develop company-wide policies and practices in all aspects of international, import, export, domestic shipping to assure compliance in meeting the various Gov't (foreign and Domestic) requirements and regulations. Oversee reports and systems which monitor various business partners involved in this compliance(ie., Brokers, Forwarders, etc...). Research into and make any recommendations into specialized Trade Preference programs to meet companies needs of cost reduction while still maintaining compliance. Develop and maintain assessment and audit procedures to measure companies compliance in various international trade areas.
• Oversee all aspects of companies Vendor compliance needs and goals. Develop and maintain positive relationships with all the companies worldwide business partners to help ensure compliance to the business needs. Develop and maintain all documents related to companies vendor compliance needs. Review, research and approve all penalties for non-compliance chargebacks. Liason between IT and business partners to ensure all the companies Electronic Interchange requirements are understood and being met. Develop monitoring reports and systems checks to measure vendors performance in meeting companies business requirements.
• Develop and monitor logistics strategies to meet companies direction and vision in their newly developing wholesale sector. Research into and make recommendations on cost saving/efficiency gaining logistics strategies to meet the wholesale customers needs. Develop process and systematic interactions and synergies to link the wholesale strategies and requirements with other business sectors to obtain similar business flow direction.
• Provide logistics direction and guidance to global satellite offices (HK & EMEA)
• Corporate Initiatives: Support the Company’s initiatives and business strategies as they relate to growing the business profitability and becoming a great place to work. Based on Company’s initiatives, identify and implement logistic solutions, aligning Corporate incentive goals with Company objectives.
Skills/Requirements
Ideal Candidates Should Possess:
• 4-year college degree in business or related field; Master’s degree preferred
• 10+ years global logistics management experience in progressively responsible roles
• Extensive experience with global freight forwarders and expeditors - air, land and sea freight
• Proven ability to build relationships internally and externally
• Strong analytical, financial, cost management and profit and loss skills
• In-depth knowledge of key global logistics processes and current best practices
• Ability to quickly establish credibility and engage others to ensure the most effective global logistics solutions
