Job Description
• Brings creativity to problem-solving through the use of innovative frameworks and high-quality analysis
• Structures work plans, project scope and data analysis to deliver business impact on high priority issues in a timely manner
• Influences senior management through the use of high quality, well-structured communications, both written and verbal
• Synthesizes information across a variety of sources to drive meaningful insights and make actionable recommendations
• Understands and is current on the strategic landscape (consumers, competitors, capabilities, costs, etc.) and shares this information with key stakeholders
Key Areas of Responsibility
Category Management Experience
• Help formulate category strategies with brand leaders
• Support category decisions based on sound fact-based analysis and a strong understanding of the interplay between category decisions and value
• Draw on strong familiarity with retail / consumer insights to shape direction
• Communicate impact of category decisions across all vertical functional touchpoints
• Support change management processes linked to key decisions
• Make recommendations to improve processes involved in category management
• Establishes performance measures, monitors and analyzes performance metrics to identify and implement performance based improvements
• Drives value to the bottom line (defined amount) in category management
Strategy Execution
• Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives in a structured environment
• Supports senior leadership in managing key strategic/cross-business initiatives
• Identifies cost improvement opportunities
Required Skills and Experience
• 5+ years in a top-tier strategy consulting firm
• Knowledge of category management: marketing, assortment strategies, pricing, etc.
• Consumer/retail experience
• Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong people management experience
• Able to structure complex problems in simple, easy-to-understand ways
• Results-focused, self-starter
• Strong understanding of financial statements and value levers
• Team player who works well with others at all levels of the organization
• Comfortable in ambiguous and rapidly evolving situations
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• Deep knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel
Preferred
• Advanced degree (MBA)
• International experience
