Director, Sports Marketing - Action Sports

Purpose
Develop and manage existing adidas global action sports assets, asset activation and international action sports expansion. The position will help execute strategy, recruit and nurture new asset relationships, drive expansion into new action sports categories (ie Surf, Motor, BMX) and identify growth opportunities within the existing categories: Skate and snow with the ultimate goal to expand reach and increase market share.
Key Accountabilities
• Manage all Global Action sports Symbols (servicing, activation, appearances)
• Develop and implement strategy for athlete recruitment, nature program across all regions.
• Oversee and input on seeding and influencer program
• Identify, cultivate and solidify relationships with new potential global assets
• Build asset portfolio within budget to build brand mind share and market share
• Develop cross promotional marketing opportunities with Asset marketing partners
• Maintain documented communication with all asset affiliations including but not limited to: agents, marketing reps, and families
• Work closely with all functions to involve athletes into creation, activation and insight generation
• Analyze and recommend new asset activation programs across all levels of action sports
• Actively drive the expansion strategy into new action sports categories such as surf and BMX
• Identify and executed strategies to increase reach within existing categories, being skate and snow.
• Drive and oversee brand partnerships outside product collaboration to contribute to overall category SBP and expansion plan
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
• Strong track record of internal/external partnership and influence
• Strong understanding of and passion for Action sports (skate, surf, snow, BMX)
• Strong strategic leadership and business analysis skills
• Strong knowledge of the inner workings of the footwear and apparel industry, concepts, practices, and procedures
• Strong interpersonal, networking, and negotiation skills
• Strong presentation and communication skills, written and verbal
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple, high priority assets and projects
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Ability to travel (domestic and international) up to 7-10 days per month
Qualifications
1. Four-year college or university degree, preferably in Marketing or business
2. Minimum of seven years Sports Marketing management experience
3. Previous Acion sports experience preferred
4. Established relationships in and around the sports and entertainment industry preferred
5. Experience working with outside partners to jointly develop new business opportunities preferred
6. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for degree
