Part-Time Print Designer - Soft Accessories

Responsibilities:
• To assist the design team to produce brand and market appropriate print and yarn dyed design/artworks and conduct research via various mediums in order to develop new ideas.
• Collate photographs, fabric swatches, trims and postcards in order to create mood boards and to assist with the colour and scale of prints, ensuring that all collection boards and information are kept up-dated and clear through close collaboration with the Print Team.
• In close collaboration with the Print Technical Assistant check the CAD’s from the printers against the original artwork for colour, detail and texture, ensuring that a high resolution of artwork is maintained on both the print, CD and film.
• Ensure that all artwork is copyrighted and burnt to CD for archiving on completion of each season; ensuring that this is organised and easily accessible on a shared file for both Print and other Departments to access.
• To produce innovative print designs for special projects and collaborations as and when they arise.
Essential Experience and Skills Required:
• Educated to minimum 2.1 degree level in Design or related qualification or equivalent.
• Advanced level in Illustrator and Photoshop packages.
• Excellent design skills especially drawing and painting as well as photography and manipulating artwork on the computer.
• Competent previous experience of working in a Print Designer role within the fashion industry, including an understanding of seasons and deadlines and managing a Design Team.
• Successful previous experience of working with scale, colour, fabric and textiles with the ability to produce high level designs with continuity.

• Highly self-motivated and helpful with the ability to stay calm under pressure to plan workload and prioritise to set deadlines.
• Must have a creative flair with the ability to assess colour and textiles and excellent research skills.
• Ability to maintain a current knowledge on themes, techniques, colours and ideas.
• A passion for the Paul Smith brand with a wider interest and knowledge of market leading designs and current market trends..
