TITLE:Designer, 3D Digital Design
MISSION/ROLE:
The Designer, 3D Digital Design will report to the Director, Digital Design and will assist in creating and presenting assets that appropriately reflect Cole Haan's design ethos and effectively communicate design intent to a variety of audiences. This individual will provide technical expertise, utilize digital tools to enable the creation of innovative concepts and designs and provide process support from concept through go to market to cross-functional partners in Design, Development, Innovation and offshore Product Creation teams.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Work with Innovation and Inline design teams to create compelling seasonal concepts and final design models.
• Process digital model from file to hard printed part (create model file, load 3D printer, de-powder part, finish printed part).
• Multi-task and concurrently execute on several projects. Deliver printed parts to design and development teams in New York, New Hampshire and Asia.
• Collaborate with development teams to deliver finished digital tooling files to overseas partners.
• Maintain cleanliness of lab space
• Service and maintain 3D printer; replenishing printer consumables.
• Service and maintain lab laser cutter.
• Special projects as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design or related design/modeling/prototyping field
• Minimum of 5 years previous related experience, preferably in footwear with traditional footwear development/prototyping skills (patternmaking, mold making hard parts and sewing soft goods) with basic knowledge of design tech pack and blue print creation
• Demonstrated proficiency using digital design applications (i.e. Rhino, FreeForm Plus, KeyShot, Photoshop, and Illustrator)photo rendering preferred
• Proficient in preparing 3D data for prototyping and creating conceptual prototypes
• Experience working in fast-paced production environment, with high 3D modeling output
• Possess an in depth understanding of digital creation market trends and new technologies
• Ability to continually expand knowledge of digital creation tools and processes and stay current with industry digital creation innovations
• Knowledge and use of laser cutting machinery preferred
• Ability to travel domestically / internationally as required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• A portfolio of work, with clear examples of personal skillset and model making capabilities, physical models preferred must be submitted to be considered
