Job Purpose:
The Assistant Designer will support the main Designer with tasks they need to have completed
• Attend vendor appointments
• Attend all fittings
• Co-present line with designers
• Bring cohesive, seasonal, thoughtful, brand right, strategic ideas to concept
• Stay aware of evolution of trend, competition and our customer
• Adhere to the calendar
• Review lab dips and strike offs for approval
• Review SRS with Designer
• Begin sketching original designs
• Develop washes, prints, and embellishments
• Travel to overseas offices as needed
• Communicate status of samples to merchandising
• Communicate with overseas offices regarding production issues (includes: tracking status, color comments, strike offs)
• Review sizing and placement of artwork
• Work with legal and/or licensing on artwork approvals
• Work with graphics on artwork requests
• Interface/communicate with production and merchandising
Qualifications:
• 2 years design experience in apparel industry
• Degree in Apparel or Fashion (2-4 year program)
• CAD
• Full Circle experience highly preferred
• Flat sketching skills required
• Photoshop and Illustrator
• Re-coloring
• Microsoft Office programs
• Basic construction knowledge
• Pattern knowledge
• Color sensibility
• Knowledge of the wash/dye process, embellishments and different fabrics
• Presentation skills
• Must be able to work full time, minimum of 40 hours/week
