A footwear designer at NB is responsible for designing product that meets the category needs and aligns with the overall brand creative direction. Tasks and responsibilities include consumer research, concept sketching, biomechanics engineering, concept visualization, 2D and 3D and product development and execution. This person will work closely with members of the design team along with their global business unit including marketing and development. As a member of the NB design team you are helping to realize brand’s future. We are looking for talented designers that want to take NB into the next generation.
Responsibilities
• Idea generation and product visualization based on consumer insights and specific marketing briefs
• Sketch, render and model concepts from brief to sales ready sample. Understand all aspects of footwear design and development
• Utilize knowledge of category-specific consumers trends and culture to improve product performance and appearance.
• Ability to work on multiple project across several seasons
• Assist’s others in projects to ensure that the category is delivering against creative vision and deadlines
• Work independently within triad team and has a strong understanding of the product creation process and timelines
• Actively participates in creative vision during offsites and other design events
• Keep up to date on competitor products, consumer retail habits and market trends.
• Knowledge of footwear materials, footwear construction, colors, and design processes is important. Keeping organized and maintaining design timelines.
Qualifications
• Bachelors’ degree in Industrial Design or related field.
• 4+ years of related design experience.
• Solid knowledge of footwear materials, footwear construction, colors, and design processes.
• Asia factory experience is a must
• Creative and detail oriented and highly motivated team player
• Must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator and familiar with Modo or eager to learn
• Strong communication skills
• Eagerness to work in a team environment
• Domestic and international travel required.
