This role exists to support strategic initiatives that the direction of the corporation in the medium term (1-3 years) and long term (3-10 years). The Manager, Corporate Strategy will work on key strategic initiatives that cut across ELC’s brands, regions, and functions and provide analytical, project management, and presentation support. S/he will facilitate the strategic planning process and design and execute deployment of the strategy across brands, regions, and functions. S/he will develop a deep understanding of the competitive environment and anticipated competitor moves. S/he will also coordinate executive team meetings and communicate with senior stakeholders.
Problem Solving 60%
• Sizing of opportunities for the company or a brand, e.g., country/region, category, subcategory, benefit, brand segment, consumer segment
• Definition of key requirements to capture a given opportunity, e.g., capabilities, technology, brand positioning adjustment, go-to-market approach (distribution, demonstrations, field sales, A&P mix)
• Framing strategic options with tradeoffs
• Distilling strategic discussions into detailed action plans and next steps
Independence of Action and Accountability 20%
• Execute workstreams and analyses independently
• Interact with brand, region, and function leaders independently once a working relationship is established
Decision Making 10%
• Define analytical approach to address strategic questions and perform analyses, which impacts the quality of the analysis and therefore of the decisions that the CEO and the ELT make in relation to any strategic issue
Leadership 10%
• Responsible for hiring summer temps
• Responsible for onboarding new team members from a content perspective
Qualifications
•2+ years of experience in strategy consulting or corporate development
•Very strong problem-solving skills
•Strong, proven end-to-end project management capabilities, including ability to work on several projects simultaneously and to thrive in a project-based, collaborative team environment
•Self-starter with well-developed interpersonal and influence skills; ability to interact independently with senior leaders; executive presence, business judgment, and maturity
•Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills, with ability to think conceptually including demonstrated ability to synthesize large amounts of complex data into meaningful conclusions
•Ability to create strong working relationships across all levels and disciplines in the company, driving progress through influence
•Ability to structure documents (e.g., PowerPoint presentations, Memorandums) and quantitative analyses (i.e., basic Excel models) and to effectively communicate with senior management
