This position will assist in the end-to-end product development process. The ideal candidate will play an important role in creating working tools that enable company efficiencies and promotes strategic thinking.
The Product Development Assistant reports directly to the Senior Product Development Specialist, Women’s Sweaters
Responsibilities:
• Communicate with overseas office and vendors on a daily basis throughout the development process
• Create all blanket PO’s for fabrics and styles at the beginning of the development season
• Update vendor PO’s as needed with color, fabric and trim updates
• Assist in requesting Flash costing from vendors in preparation for Line Plan Validation (LPV)
• Track and send out all wear test garments for new qualities and make sure all comments on the feedback forms are captured in the seasonal tracking chart
• Track all proto, sales sample and counter samples to ensure timely adherence to calendar deadlines and distribute samples to pertinent team members
• Create seasonal Product Development workbooks and maintain with all color, fabric and trim adds or drops
• Send out seasonal color standards to our vendor base
• Responsible for sending and distributing packages, filing swatches, labeling, tagging and steaming garments in preparation for Global Market Adoption (GMA)
• Review lines sheets weekly for changes in raw materials, trims and colors
• Attend weekly cross functional team meetings and discuss sample status, vendor updates and changes that fall outside of the calendar deadlines
• Assist in checking all Bill Of Materials / Tech Packs are consistent with fabric/trim/color specifications
• Create handover sheets for all styles booked by sales and ensure all color standards and fabric information is correct and ready for bulk placement
• Assists Product Development Coordinator in day to day functions
Qualifications:
• Must have one to three years (1-3) years of industry related experience
• Must have basic knowledge of knits and basic sewing construction
• Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Must have strong communication skills, written and verbal and follow up skills
• Must be able to multi task, set priorities and meet deadlines
• Must be organized and have a strong attention to detail
• Must be able to adapt quickly to changing business requirements
• Must be an effective team player
