Position Overview:
Michael Kors is looking for an experienced, business savvy, product-focused merchandising leader to take our growing accessories business (handbags & small leather goods) to the next level. This individual will partner with senior management and cross-functional partners (i.e., design, product development, production, etc.) to identify opportunities, develop and execute strategies to build strong global assortments that will achieve/surpass financial objectives of the division. Strong communication, analytical and creative problem solving skills as well as the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment are a must.
Main Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Support the creation of seasonal merchandising strategies and global line plans to ensure appropriate development for the Outlet accessories business.
• Oversee the development process and business process of Outlet accessories from development calendar, design brief to market presentation.
• Supervise market process including creating and managing linesheets (in PLM), calendar, and market appointments.
• Lead analysis with action-oriented reporting on global business and product trends (monthly, quarterly, and seasonally) recapping noteworthy callouts by category, silhouette, fabrication, color, etc. and help to determine financial opportunities for individual regions.
• Partner with global business units to draw conclusions on sales performance. Develop action plans based on sales performance trends across global business units to impact line-planning process and influence assortment strategies.
• Work with global buying teams to manage the selection of product to create a well-balanced assortment that will meet the financial and aesthetic needs of the brand.
• Conduct market and competitor research to identify and analyze movements/opportunities within the competitive landscape.
• Apply and maintain attributes and methodology to categorically evaluate accessories business on a global basis.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in Merchandising, Merchandise Planning and/or Accessories Buying.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills: ability to communicate with high level executives.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skill levels required. Previous experience with PLM a plus.
• A self-starter with a strong ability to take initiative, ownership and accountability for the business.
• Ability to multi-task and react quickly with a strong sense of urgency.
• Team-oriented with ability to build strong business relationships.
