Job Description
This role is responsible for managing all purchasing, fabrication and logistics activities of the company, including manufacturing engineering, material planning, inventory management and parts storage/warehousing. Responsible for assuring the availability of goods and supporting the organization’s strategic goals while following the guiding principle of:
Right Products, Right Quantity, Right Quality, Right Time, Right Place, Right Price, Right Information
Supports the development and maintenance of a competitive product portfolio consistent with the strategic objectives of the company while assuring innovation and time to market according to the company’s roadmap. Part of the Sr Management Leadership team, therefore co-responsible for: OI, TNS, OVC, EBIT, PPC, business planning, and budget management. Maximizes product profitability by meeting the target costs, and improving operational performance (CIP). Supports competitiveness and innovation of products and processes from a technological and design standpoint. Responsible for cost, quality and on-time delivery of goods to build machines and support after sales services. Provides simultaneous engineering support, visits suppliers and maintains a strong internal customer focus within the entire department. Supplier evaluation, selection, development and relation management.
Applies all relevant corporate and international regulations/norms/standards.
Essential Functions:
• Leads the department to the next technology level by encouraging creativity and fostering an open and innovative work environment.
• Leads continuous improvement processes and initiatives. Appropriate use of KPIs.
• Actively searches for best-in-class technologies and processes.
• Establishes, controls and maintains operational budgets for the departments.
• Leads and supports projects, incorporates relevant expertise and experience and shares technical information and best-practices for both, the local site as well as for the Business Unit.
• Proactively collaborates with other Bosch sites on global initiatives, technology transfer and best practices.
• Collaborates closely with engineering and assembly (simultaneous engineering) to ensure design to cost, fabrication and assembly.
• Establish and grow relationship and collaboration with contract fabrication firms to understand alternatives and to meet organizational objectives.
• Actively participates as a Sr Manager and Leadership Team member.
• Supervisory Responsibilities - Recruiting, on-boarding and retaining of properly qualified personnel, training, and performance management, along with compensation decisions.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical managerial or director roles in specialty machine building or capital equipment manufacturing.
• Minimum of 5 years' of experience with Material Management and Fabrication (Make vs Buy) processes in specialty machine building or capital equipment manufacturing.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a senior management/strategic role to include the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or Production Technology degree. Master's Degree and/or certification related to Operations Management.
• Packaging machinery experience.
• Experience in project management managerial or director roles.
• Experience in manufacturing production and planning.
• Strong leadership, ownership, accountability and specificity.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to successfully manage people and deal with complexity in a multinational environment.
• Ability to inspire diversity and inclusion, promote team-work and collaboration within the local organization, the global Product Group and the global Business Unit.
• Solid knowledge of material properties and mechanics.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Demonstrated problem analysis and resolution skills at both a strategic and functional level.
• Continuous Improvement mindset - analytical rigor and solid process management experience, with a drive for excellence by continuous improvement and sense of urgency.
• Market and customer orientation in defining future products and a proven attitude in working in relation with product management.
• Out of the box thinking and encouragement of driving for creative, marketable solutions.
