Job Description
The primary purpose of the Director – Smart Home is to build our smart home strategy and execute it across the merchandise teams with the intent of growing our market share in this space. The Director Smart Home's primary responsibility is to define the corporate strategy for Smart Home, gain alignment with leadership and execute across core merchandising and other cross functional partners. This position has direct leadership responsibility of a Merchandise Specialist and has influence across our merchants to drive aligned actions to realize our smart home strategy. They will own our relationships with key Smart Home providers like Google/Nest, Ring, and Samsung Smart Things. They will have some product buying responsibilities, but will primary provide expertise to our merchants that do and advise them in the latest technology and options available for customer solutions in the marketplace. The Director will play a major part in determining the home location of smart home in our stores, our on-line strategy or install strategy and development of strategic partner relationships for connected devices and services.
Responsibility Statements:
• Builds the strategy and gains alignment from the leadership team
• Works across core merchandising and our functional partners to execute the strategy and gain market share
• Develops strategic relationships with key suppliers and leverages these relationships to bring product solutions to our core merchant partners
• Defines our in-store home location, fixturing and our planogram and our on-line landing page to best present our smart home offering to customers
• Responsible for monitoring trends, competitors, new product categories and innovation in the smart home space to ensure Lowe’s stays in front of the marketplace
• Works with our Services partners to define our smart home installation offering
• Focuses the core merchants and vendor partners on the needs of the customer and sets goals that strive to exceed the customer’s expectations
• Interacts frequently with senior leadership delivering messages that are tailored to the recipient and effectively communicate the right message, at the right time for action to occur
• Solves complex problems using multiple problem solving tools and techniques to generate fact-based solutions, delegating tactical problems to managers, as needed
Required Experience/Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Technology or Related Field and 5+ years experience in Smart/Connected Home technologies or services
Preferred Experience/Education:
• 3 years experience in Merchandising
• Master’s degree in technology or related field
