Position Summary:
The Director, Trade & Shopper Marketing will help tell the Harman/JBL story by creating Retail Theater. This position will drive region Trade & Shopper marketing excellence including customer program planning & execution, merchandising, training program creation and delivery, and trade show execution.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises a team of six marketing direct reports ranging from Senior Manager through Trade Specialist in the following areas:
• Trade Communications
• Customer Marketing
• Merchandising Execution
• Training
Job Responsibilities:
Create Retail Theater
• Engage shoppers in the retail channel via creative storytelling, innovative POS and promotions. This includes new product launches and existing consumer products. Drive for world-class creative tied to the current cultural narrative of that time and ensure consistent messaging with brand advertising.
• Bring creative thinking and new ways to ask for “more” in-store (“more” means more SKUs, more inventory, more SOV etc.)
• Motivate team to think big and drive for breakthrough customer marketing and creative, while also rolling up their sleeves to address any and all customer needs.
• Work in unison with all aspects of US Marketing including product marketing, digital/social and consumer engagement at all levels of the team.
Deliver World class Customer Marketing
• Work closely with Sales to collaboratively lead development of Customer Marketing programs to drive profitable growth and leverage paid US marketing assets.
• Develop insight based ideas that convince retail partners to execute in store programs
• Execute customer marketing programs
• Develop ideas that position HARMAN as the category captain in key retail accounts
• Cultivate deep partnerships with the marketing organization within the retail customers
Execute With Excellence Across Trade Execution, Training & Communication
• Oversee the day-to-day activities of the region’s trade marketing team.
• Develop Channel strategy in correlation with each Strategic Business Unit.
• Responsible for determining necessary merchandising activity and working with necessary constituents to secure appropriate resources.
• Responsible for communication of all Marketing assets to Sales representatives, other internal US stakeholders and Customers (as appropriate).
• Train and develop internal sales team and any third party contract Merchandiser personnel, ensuring that those individuals are fully competent to train their assigned Dealers.
• Ensure all Customer interface personnel have the necessary sales tools to sell in complete product line. Customize materials for use to proper retail channels. This may include training of customers too.
• Responsible for monitoring and reporting relevant competitive activity in the marketplace.
• Be senior leader for Consumer marketing at the Northridge office – this includes direct and daily communication, collaboration and accountability with US GM/VP who also resides in this office.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred
• 7-10 years of applicable experience in Consumer Electronics Industry
• 7-10 years of management experience

• Creative in terms of developing customer programs that drive execution of marketing assets.

Eligibility Requirements:
• Willingness to travel 30% of the time with peaks and valleys and occasional last minute trips based on customer needs.
• Willingness to work in an office in Northridge, CA.
