Job Description
The Director, High Fructose Corn Syrup North America Beverages Center of Excellence (HFCS NAB COE), is responsible for leading the development and implementation of progressive sourcing strategies that deliver economic and cost efficiencies, supply assurance and quality in the procurement of high fructose corn syrup North American needs.
The selected candidate:
• Reports solid line to Senior Director, Global Sweetener COE
• Will have matrix management responsibilities, partnering and influencing across multiple levels and organizations, to drive the Sweetener COE agenda
• Will have two direct reports
Principal Accountabilities:
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies of sweeteners that provide a competitive market advantage, primarily in support of NAB and NAF
• Develop and foster strategic supplier relationships that deliver cost reduction, supply assurance, quality improvement and innovation
• Establish and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders in order to be considered a trusted strategic advisor by identifying, understanding and fulfilling their strategic business needs
• Negotiate supplier agreements that align with the interests of Company and also comply with Company policies
• Develop HFCS guidance for USA and Canada and lead development of and compliance to commodity risk management strategies
• Perform financial requirements to include total cost analysis, business case development, cost modeling, cash flow analysis and creation of annual operating and strategic business plans
• Review and evaluate current business practices and identify areas of opportunity with a focus on total cost reduction and supply optimization
• Lead COE agenda across North American productivity initiatives and partner with sector MSOs and Corporate Finance to accurately report sweetener productivity savings in AOP year and SBP planning cycles
• Work collaboratively with R&D, business units and suppliers to develop recommendations that drive Value Engineering productivity initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements
• Ten (10) years plus work experience in direct procurement and supply chain management in food, beverage or CPG industries
• Bachelor Degree desired in Supply Chain Management, Finance , Engineering, Science or Business, MBA or MS Finance preferred but not essential
• Direct management and deep expertise in major agricultural commodity markets (traded and non traded) e.g. sugar, oils, grains, coffee
• Develops and executes price risk management strategies to deliver predictable commodity costs i.e. hedging experience
• Acts as internal company expert to provide commodity price guidance and market intelligence
• Ability to interpret and succinctly communicate market dynamics for senior management and non expert audiences
• Strong analytical skills: conducts financial business case analysis and TCO modeling for complex supply chains
• Leverages sourcing strategies to deliver business operating plan and unlock new value and productivity drivers to ensure sustained productivity delivery
• Proven track record in the development and commercialization of food ingredients and leverages emerging technologies to transform and drive costs down
• Identifies and manages potential risk in unique or regulated sourcing environments e.g. intellectual property protection, anti-dumping suits, tariffs/duty imposition etc.
• Intellectually curious with broad understanding of and interest in global macro- economic, cultural and political trends
• Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, creates flexible strategies and adapts quickly to changing business environment
