The Associate Director of Cheese Procurement develops sourcing strategy (cost modeling, market analysis, business need assessment) and sets the agenda for annual bid events, supplier negotiations and contract analysis for all categories. This position advises direct reports on short and long-term sourcing strategies, leads department working capital initiatives and assures progress against project timelines and deliverables. The role is the key liaison with internal stakeholders in the Business Units to drive category performance metrics. This individual will balance and communicate trade-offs to Product Supply, Marketing, R&D, Quality, Operations and Procurement in support of all categories. This individual will focus on mentoring and advancement of department resources, process improvement and delivering against departmental goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Review spend, contract and market analysis for all categories
• Set agenda and strategy for bid events, review bid analysis and approve sourcing recommendations
• Manage and support the development of a team of three
• Communicate sourcing decisions to senior management and key stakeholders
• Provide necessary inputs for supply agreements and monitor compliance
• Ensure adherence and compliance to procurement processes and policies
• Develop sourcing strategies for assigned categories
• Stakeholder communication and management
• Supplier relationship management
• Deliver on aggressive productivity and cash flow goals and create pipeline of projects
• Capacity planning and business continuity plans
• Support supplier audits and ensure Supplier Quality Expectations compliance
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required (Ag Econ, Economics, Finance, Engineering desired )
• Minimum 5-7 years research, commodities and/or procurement experience required
• Strong analytical skills (statistics, economics, modeling, strong Excel capabilities)
• Organizational skills (handling workload and complexity)
• Presentation skills (proficiency in Power Point and comfortable presenting to groups)
• Ability to interface with wide variety of business situations and all levels of management, trade groups, conventions, etc.)
• Negotiations and influencing skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Problem solving and decision making skills
• Proficient in MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint
• Commodities/risk management experience desired
