The Senior Director, Global Category Leader, Global Strategic Insights will be responsible for leading a Procurement organization of ~ 18 resources (direct & indirect reporting responsibility) in support of approximately $0.5 billion or more in spend for Johnson & Johnson Companies. These categories are highly complex in nature and require strong engagement & alignment with key senior business leaders, critical supplier leadership and other segment/functional leadership. This individual will identify, develop, implement & drive compliance with Procurement goals and strategy. The successful candidate will plan and direct the organization’s activities and deliver against targets for financial performance, quality, and service and compliance adherence.
This role will provide Global and Regional leadership for developing end-to-end category leadership such as category strategy development & adherence, building trusted relationships with senior business leadership and managing key supplier relationships. The position must shape, connect and lead resources to deliver on key projects.
The Senior Director, Global Category Leader’s scope of responsibilities include:
• Driving the Procurement vision of Partnering to shape supplier solutions that transform healthcare.
• Developing the vision, strategy and implementation plan for the Global Strategic Insight category of spend that will effectively meet the long-range requirements of the business partners and deliver maximum value for JNJ.
• Interfacing directly with CEO’s and other supplier leadership to ensure JNJ’s objectives are met, including quality, reliability, innovation and cost.
• Understanding operational considerations, identifying business demand requirements, and partnering with Business Engagement Leads and Global Services to deliver annual value improvements and drive competitive advantage.
• Understanding long range requirements of the business partners, and engaging in strategic planning and partnering to ensure alignment.
• Delivering on financial, service, reliability, quality, innovation, and growth commitments.
• Building and maintaining relationships throughout JNJ that result in dynamic interactive dialogue on a broad range of perspectives and information critical to the development of optimal approaches and solutions.
• Developing deep supplier relationships with strategic suppliers to include performance management, development and improvement of end to end value, and bringing innovation to the business.
• Identifying, developing and directing the implementation of Procurement goals and category strategies, based on deep subject matter expertise and an informal understanding of industry/market dynamics.
• Escalating issues that may impact the Global Procurement organization.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• A minimum of 15 years related experience, with at least 10 years of experience within a Procurement environment is required.
• Broad-based understanding of business operations and practices, and core Procurement areas of focus (Spend Management: Category Management and Supplier Management) is required.
• Multi-country and sector experience with experience across geographies of varied sizes and businesses is preferred.
• This individual must have strong leadership, vison setting, communication, influencing, collaboration and talent development skills.
• The ability to prioritize requests, propose effective cost/customer service alternatives when necessary, and show judgment in developing new approaches and resolving issues is required.
• This individual must have strong business acumen and be customer oriented (building and maintaining trusted relationships with J&J senior management).
• The ability to set strategic direction, develop solutions for business needs, and drive change and continuous improvement is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to confidently present complex information is required.
• Up to approximately 10% domestic and international travel may be required.
• This position is based in New Brunswick, NJ.
