Director Infrastructure Engineering
This position is responsible for architecture, development and operation of infrastructure and teams supporting Shutterfly’s consumer business. You will join the infrastructure and technology leadership team as a critical member that is responsible for defining foundational technology platform vision and execution with a focus on systems and storage domains. You will establish and deliver on KPI benchmarks and improvements related to budget performance, key program and project delivery and operational metrics. This position most importantly requires someone who knows when to pivot to a subject matter expert and go deep, but also can operate at the director level for strategic direction and bigger picture.
Key Responsibilities
• Architecture and design of scalable, performant and cost effective infrastructure & management solutions
• Deliver operational excellence and infrastructure best practices whether bare-metal or containers, both within the datacenter and within the cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure etc)
• Support Shutterfly/Lifetouch infrastructure integrations program and delivery
• Infrastructure orchestration platforms leveraging Kubernetes, Terraform, Cloudformation etc
• Identifies and operationalizes relevant technologies to deliver flexible scale on-demand, resilient, cost effective, secure and highly available IaaS and PaaS
• Heavy cost modeling, data analysis and weekly memos/briefs for business reviews, operating plans, key metrics
• Continually iterate on opportunities to improve process, cost and key performance metrics
• 24x7x365 support and delivery.
Experience and Skill Requirements
• Demonstrated architecture acumum and expertise, particularly in systems/storage infrastructure management solutions
• At heart, you are cut from the SRE/DevOps cloth.
• Methodical approach to managing competing priorities and being successful
• Demonstrated, ongoing cost management and analysis practices
• Ability to assess and optimize team structure, staff and scale of functions. Talent magnet.
• Excellent written and presentation skills.
• SME in the storage/systems domains.
• Infrastructure as code and orchestration management solutions expertise.
• Expertise in transition from traditional bare-metal/virtualized technologies to micro-service based approaches leveraging infrastructure as code practices.
• Expertise in kubernetes, terraform, cloudformation, packer, docker, ansible, chef and terraform.
• You are a technologist first, and capable of digging into the operability discussions -- distilling architecture to practical SRE requirements.
• Experience working in a management role for 10+ years.
