Job Summary
Provides overall program and project leadership in major Business initiatives for a platform, including ConAgra Cost Reduction (CCR), New Product Introduction (NPI), and other strategic Supply Chain initiatives (M&A, Quality improvement, plant restructuring). Leads a team of operations project directors/managers, and provides direct leadership of supply chain related projects. Responsible for leading effective gate review, prioritization and related program management business processes for assigned platform/business segments. The position’s primary objective is supporting the achievement of new product net sales, cost reduction (CCR target) and other Supply Chain strategy metrics for assigned platform.
Position Responsibilities
• Provide program management business process leadership to assigned business segments and operations platform. Effectively manage and drive high adoption of project chartering, steering (stage gate) and business prioritization reviews for assigned areas.
• Responsible for directing and managing project scope, planning and implementation consistent with established business priorities.
• Execute projects utilizing common processes and metrics established by the Program Management Office (PMO);
• Lead overall Program/project management for cost improvement efforts for assigned platform/segment product groups, ensuring annual target achievement and steering team effectiveness. Identify need for support to plant and other Supply Chain performance improvement efforts, as requested;
• Oversee and drive business simplification efforts for assigned platform – examples including Active SKU Management, packaging standardization, and component/specification consolidation. Work with business teams to assess product offerings and ongoing effective use of Supply Chain resources;
• Coordinate effective utilization of internal and 3rd party resources with the PMO;
• Interacts with Company Product Engineers and vendors in the implementation of product development and manufacturing;
• Direct and manage major initiatives within the platform, including CCR, Growth initiatives, Transformation, M&A and Divestitures;
• Manage team leads and coordinate planning and execution;
• Ensure projects stay on schedule;
• Provide regular status reporting, milestone progress on the overall projects;
• Coordinate resources and timing between functions;
• Provide risk assessments on project – identify and outline mitigation steps with Team Leads and Functional owners;
• Lead and guide other Project Managers assigned to the team in framing business specifications, writing technical specifications/requirement documents as the case may be, formulating functional/technical teams, and in planning, controlling and other project management tasks for successful project execution;
• Responsible for project budgets, both capital and expense, for any projects under position's jurisdiction;
• Lead functional and technical staff in identifying, defining, and resolving systems and business process problems, distinguishing between symptoms and root causes;
• Partner with assigned customers to plan, prioritize, and successfully manage strategic and tactical projects that effectively utilize technology to add value for the enterprise. Understand their business processes and how technology can better enable the processes to be executed more effectively and efficiently;
• Guide the development of sound business cases to justify effort. Ensure that project efforts deliver intended business benefits;
• Coach, guide, and direct assigned project team resources. Administer performance and salary reviews.
Position Qualifications
• BA/BS degree in Engineering, Food Technology, Business Administration, or related subject. Masters or MBA preferred.
• 10 plus years experience, multi-plant management with progressive responsibility; ideally in diverse, multiple Supply Chain and Operations disciplines.
• Prefer food and beverage industry experience in a manufacturing environment;
• Exposure to multiple business disciplines;
• Strong understanding of manufacturing unit operations;
• Project management skills; Exposure to new product commercialization and start-up procedures;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Thorough understanding of supply chain cost structure; P&L and balance sheet. Highly collaborative leadership style; Proven experience in cross-functional project team environment. Exceptional, proven project management skills; 5 plus years experience in managing projects in a manufacturing environment (critical);
• Must be familiar with project management concepts and able to utilize project management tools and techniques;
• Demonstrate proficiency in multiple application development and operational platforms, complex functional and technical specification development, comprehensive systems analysis and design techniques, and fundamental quality assurance standards;
• Demonstrate an ability to anticipate customer needs, deal with ambiguity, and take action to avoid problems;
• Demonstrate an ability to resolve conflict and to provide decisive, respected leadership;
• Communicate effectively with both functional and technical partners in written and verbal forms. Demonstrate the ability to effectively present information in a group setting.
