We’re seeking a Head of Corporate Communications, based in our Denver, Colorado office (global headquarters). In this role, you will be responsible for spearheading the evolution of our communications strategy and corporate narrative, helping to competitively position a 160-year young brand undergoing transformation.
Acting as a solutions-oriented partner, you will oversee a growing team that supports our key functions including Finance/ Investor Relations, Strategy and Development, Technology, Legal and Compliance, as well as the WU Foundation. In alignment with key internal stakeholders, this role will develop a communication strategy to drive WU’s visibility and reputation.

• Act as a strategic communications advisor to the business, providing senior counsel to the leadership team, core business units and internal communication team
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external consultants/agencies to develop powerful messages, storylines and communications programs which drive awareness of the company’s vision, objectives and capabilities and reinforce its competitive positioning
• Spearhead the development of a future-oriented corporate narrative, in alignment with the corporate brand positioning
• Keep pulse of competitive landscape and Western Union’s distinct value proposition in the marketplace
• Serve as visionary and architect in shaping and telling the Western Union story
• Champion the role of communications as a business driver, increasing internal awareness of the communications function and its core capabilities
• Ensure clear and consistent expectations around roles and delivery for the communications team
• Drive the executive positioning program including the development of thought leadership topics and preparation of executives for external opportunities, including the CEO
• Act as lead for crisis communication to protect WU brand and reputation
• Maintain and update communications governance including guidelines, policies, and procedures aligned across all communications units
• Monitor the effectiveness of communications programs and assets employed
What you will need to succeed:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum 8 years progressive experience in the field of corporate communications, with additional agency experience preferred
• Experience navigating and working in a matrixed and collaborative global organization
• Financial services or payments industry background required

Demonstrated media relations and digital media experience
Proven ability to work with collaborative spirit and desire to build bridges across a matrixed organization

Proven track record to build and lead high performing teams
Aptitude to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs
