Director, Category Management- Walmart
Description
The Director of Category Management (CM) position is a critical role for Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) as it is responsible for driving the delivery of the Category Management vision that supports our KDP portfolio strategy for growth. This role demands a results-oriented, strategic thinker, able to develop and own their agenda. This leader must have a diverse background in: Marketing/Sales, Technology, the use of syndicated data, and have excellent relationship management expertise with a proven track record in Category Management. Must possess leadership skill sets as a proven teacher, coach, and developer of talent across the business. This leader will also work collaboratively with the sales team and cross-functionally to achieve KDP growth goals.
This role is both demanding and highly visible, inside KDP, Walmart/Sam’s and within the industry. This person must recognize and define CM and Account needs, set the strategic direction for their team, create proactive solutions and partner with an extended commercial team to ensure that those solutions are activated. This role will support key customer formats and categories with the highest value at stake for KDP and Walmart/Sam’s.
The success of this role is the ability to deliver on: growing KDP space, distribution, increasing display and promotional frequency for our brands and categories, and achieving both our internal objectives (revenue, volume, profit, share) as well as our joint business plan agreement. Critical to that will be the ability to understand and leverage the array of tools and insights available at KDP, with a keen awareness on the importance of leveraging shopper insights to articulate win-win solutions that address the underlying causals of shopper and business performance.

This person will be based in our Rogers, Arkansas office with 20-25% travel.
Position Responsibilities
1. Execute the vision for the Category Management Team
• Contribute to the development of the channel/account strategy with Sales, Revenue Growth Management (RGM), Shopper Insights, Brand Marketing, and Shopper Marketing
• Strategic insight – ability to leverage relevant insights (industry, category, brand, channel, Route to Market, shopper, consumer and account) to develop a strategic agenda that drives focus and results behind KDP’s strategic priorities with an excellence in shopper segmentation (speed to insights)
• Judgment & Thought Leadership - Ability to proactively identify and quantify business gaps and deliver innovative solutions leveraging the strength of KDP’s portfolio. Candidate must have strong analytical rigor that drives results in space, assortment, promotions, pricing, and joint business planning activities
• Influence – ability to leverage internal and external relationships to drive strategic agendas, alignment and capability development for the team
2. Ensure team delivers best in class execution with an aligned commercial planning approach
• Partner with Revenue Growth Management to lead the selling teams in the planning process, including development of key business objectives, strategies, and commercial plans
• Drive decision-making that will lead to CM program/tool enhancements and improve process efficiencies
• Execute internal Category Management processes with Walmart/Sam’s by positioning KDP’s portfolio as an advantaged growth solution.
3. Leadership/Coaching to drive team capabilities
• Overall direct responsibility for a team of Category Managers and Analysts
• Ability to identify top talent, provide ongoing coaching/feedback, identify training needs to enhance skill sets, and conduct career pathing discussions with progression planning
• Identify and reinforce positive leadership behaviors to drive change and raise the bar on performance
• Manage, motivate, lead and educate the team to more effective and efficient solutions that address Walmart/Sam’s wants and needs, align with KDP brand strategies, and assist in driving growth for KDP and Walmart/Sam’s categories
4. Drive the Retailer Relationship
• Serve as a Trusted Advisor on the categories where KDP has portfolio presence while extending our influence into other categories and/or buyers
• Broaden our level of interaction within the retailer beyond buyers and planners to include: modular development, small format, insights, modular planning, and the testing of store redesign-merchandising concepts
• Deliver best-in-class, differentiated insights to assist in setting the customer’s strategic direction as well as tactics to deliver the strategy
5. Continuous Improvement
• Lead the CM team in their efforts to drive strategic insights that deliver a point of difference for our accounts
• Provide insight and recommendations around assortment and mix management, ensuring retailers and bottling partners are optimizing product selection to maximize KDP and customer profitability
• Collaborate with RGM and Sales to evaluate promotional performance in an effort to better understand drivers of success and areas of opportunity
• Evaluate existing processes/tools and lead/coach teams to high degree of productivity and efficiency on all projects with industry leading expertise in Space, Assortment and Promotion Management
• Leverage a multitude of data sources including Retail Link, RSI, IRI, Infoscout, etc. to co-develop fact and insight led grocery channel strategies and tactics

Qualifications
• Minimum ten (10) years of category management, business analytics, shopper insights and/or sales experience
• Extremely strong verbal, written, and presentation skill sets
• Syndicated data experience with IRI, Nielsen, Panel, Infoscout, RSI, and Walmart/Sam’s specific data
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
• Retail Link data experience a plus
• Minimum four (4) years’ experience of managing others in a professional business environment
