ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Leads the development and evolution of US Foods SHE management system to ultimately achieve SHE excellence. Sequences annual initiatives for field execution that build strong foundations for future SHE success.
• Inspires key stakeholders and gains alignment from senior leadership to pursue and support key initiatives that achieve US Foods long-term vision of SHE excellence.
• Defines, clarifies, and evolves the cultural attributes of leadership and employee ownership to achieve broad and deep organizational commitment to SHE.
• Guides the development of practical risk-based programs (such as Ergonomics, Material Handling Equipment, Process Safety Management, Walking / Working Surfaces, Driver Safety, etc.) that incorporate sound risk assessment and control techniques, as well as regulatory compliance.
• Establishes base expectations with supporting methodologies for key SHE “routines,” such as Incident Management, Emergency Preparedness, PPE Selection and Use, Inspections and Observations, etc. that help to engrain SHE into the organization.
• Explores, promotes, and incorporates SHE best practices, facility and equipment advances, and technology to improve SHE risk profiles.
• Partners with key stakeholders – Facilities / Real Estate, Fleet Management, and Operations Excellence – to integrate SHE considerations into facility and equipment design and productivity initiatives.
• Provides for timely and thorough SHE Due Diligence support for property acquisitions and divestitures and M&A initiatives.
• Ensures base corporate SHE activities, such as SHE reporting, SHE vendor management (First Advantage, Process Map, Samba Safety, Vigillo, etc.), and SHE assessments / audits, occur that result in timely and accurate information to key stakeholders.
• Models high ethical standards and employee advocacy reinforcing the “We Care” mindset.

Qualifications
Education/Training:
• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, SHE field; Master’s highly preferred.
• One or more professional SHE-related certifications (CSP, CIH, PE) required.
Related Experience/Requirements:
• A minimum of 15 years of increasingly responsible experience in the manufacturing, foodservice, and / or distribution industries that spans Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Transportation Safety, and Environmental Management. Multi-site responsibility and supervisory experience also required. Experience with union environments desirable.

• Ability to manage competing priorities and to work effectively under pressure with tight timelines and demanding customer expectations. Able to function well within a fast-paced environment.
• Strategic thinker who understands the overlap between the various SHE sub-functions and how to synthesize cultural and risk-based aspects into seamless SHE programming.
• Champions new ideas, regardless of source. Embraces emerging SHE technologies, and incorporates new SHE concepts and best practices where needed.
• Knowledge of various SHE federal and state laws and regulations and industry benchmarking metrics.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability to travel up to 30%.
