Director Operations
As Director of Operations you will manage the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Magnet Manufacturing organization consisting of Manufacturing, Engineering, Logistics, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to deliver products meeting delivery, quality and cost requirements.
You are responsible for
• Leads the production unit, related processes and staff in the development and execution of world class operational performance.
• Develops programs, projects, goals, and metrics to lead the manufacturing organization to the highest level of operational performance. Prepares multi-year manufacturing operation and investment plans including staffing, expense control, and capital.
• Delivers products on time with high factory and supplier yields and decreasing product field failure rates. Continuously improves the entire magnet value chain and ensures production process as regards routing, supplies and manpower levels are optimized.
• Responsible for all Operations performance metrics.
• Anticipates future developments regarding production methods and processes.
• Executes plans to integrally reduce costs, improve service and quality across the supply chain.
• Supervises, selects, develops, coaches and evaluates personnel to ensure high performance
• Manages pilot production and production preparation activities.
• Ensures compliance of all activities with quality regulations, governmental and company rules, general conditions of employment and safety rules.
• Is responsible for compliance with environmental rules and Philips’ Sustainable Growth Policies, and ensures that the facilities in Latham remain in good condition.
You are a part of
You will report to the Head of Manufacturing Systems. You will manage the Latham Operations team which holds approx. 250+ employees.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
• Bachelor in the area of Mechanical, Electrical engineering or equivalent. Master preferred.
• 10+ years’ experience in Operations Leadership role of multi discipline responsibilities (Production, SCM, Logistic, and Purchasing etc.).
• 10+ years’ experience of integrated LEAN deployment and Operational Excellence
• Experience in manufacturing and assembly of complex electro-mechanical devices (low volume / high mix), preferably in medical
• Thorough knowledge of manufacturing methods and technology, and understanding of support functions.
• Profound understanding of business trends and the direction production technology must take, in connection with other disciplines.
• Ability to retool and redesign production to meet the changing needs of the business
• Proven results orientated track record
• Self-propelled, energetic and pro-active
• Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
• Team player, passionate for results and people. Supports our highly engaged workforce and helps maintain a non-union environment.
