Partners with Brand leadership on implementing strategies to help drive short and long-term financial performance for assigned portfolio. Act as main business partner to Brand leadership for assigned portfolio. Leads efforts to drive financial planning, influence strategy, prioritize investments, and oversee segment P&L. Incorporate best practices and benchmarks to continually improve processes and efficiencies. Partners with business teams and Finance partners (Sales & Trade Finance, Marketing Finance, Supply Chain Finance, FP&A, etc.) to provide insights and analytics to drive profitable and timely business decisions. Lead and influence broader cross-functional teams, provide day-to-day leadership & coaching to Brand Finance team and develop pipeline of finance talent for other areas of the organization. Minimum 12 years related experience.
Position Responsibilities
• Provides thought leadership in the development and execution of business strategies
• Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values talent management and a commitment to quality
• Partner with Brand leadership team(s) to develop and execute annual operating plan and long-term strategic plans
• Lead financial planning and P&L oversight for assigned brands/portfolio.
• Own and deliver analytics that show insights into drivers of the P&L. Assist brand leadership with identifying improvement opportunities and developing action plans by brand and/or portfolio.
• Own and deliver analytics that provide insights into drivers of year-over-year or quarter-over-quarter variances.
• Own and deliver analytics that show P&L impact of changes in COGS, innovation, pricing, etc.
• Accountable for proper financial controls
• Drive accountability of SG&A for organization.
• Own all planning and execution related to financial performance (close, forecasting, strategic planning, AOP)
• Support M&A project work as necessary
• Assess business needs, resolve risks and opportunities in a timely manner, and clearly communicate issues/business results.
• Lead a team of people managers. Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports to ensure they have the appropriate information and resources to lead their teams.
• Place a large focus on performance management and talent management/succession planning across the organization. Identify opportunities / projects to expose team members to in order to advance their development. Place a large focus on “talent intimacy”.
• Update the monthly forecast for assigned function based on business changes. Actively communicate changes to business partners by providing specific, actionable and forward-looking commentary on the various changes as well as guidance on potential risk
• Lead month-end/quarter-end close activities to ensure completion of assigned tasks, including identification and resolution of unusual items and issues in a timely manner
• Provide comprehensive financial analysis and models for various requests depending on the assigned function (product development, customer analysis, competitive analysis, pricing, etc.)
• Responsible for project work / Oversee various finance wide-projects, projects will vary depending on business needs
Position Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• MBA or CPA/CMA certification preferred
• Minimum 12 years of professional general business and financial experience
• Broad experience in the business and across functions in an organization
• Excellent influencing and communication skills in order to build relationships at all levels of the organization
• Previous experience managing a team required
• Demonstrated ability to place a focus on talent development, succession planning, and coaching individuals to prepare them for expanded roles
• Proven ability to operate in a matrixed environment
• Provide vision and strategy for the team – business / function performance, people, processes, systems
• Ability to lead broader finance initiatives; represent the organization on critical strategic issues
• Proven ability to self-motivate in a fast-paced environment, ability to deal with ambiguity, change and a dynamic business environment
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills, including leveraging analytics, benchmarking, and insights to generate meaningful strategies and solutions.
• Proven ability to develop strong relationships and partnerships with internal customers, peers and effectively manage those relationships
• Demonstrated ability to work across multiple departments to complete a project or resolve an organizational challenge
• Background and experience in P&L management, along with knowledge of financial systems and general accounting concepts
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Experience with SAP or other software tools preferred
