Walmart/Sam’s is a leading retailer for Diageo, representing over $172M in Diageo spirits retail sales annually. The Director of Sales – Walmart Team is responsible for the overall FY Plan achievement by the Walmart/Sam’s U.S. Sales Team. This position works cross-functionally across Diageo sales, category development, shopper marketing, finance, brand marketing, and the distributor to build and execute strong business plans with the customer. The role requires a high level of strategic capability and influencing at all levels of the organization. The Director of Sales/Team Leader has three direct reports; the National Account Manager Walmart/Sam’s, the National Account Manager Operations, and the Pricing Manager. This role reports directly into the Vice President of National Accounts – Global Walmart and Drug Channel, and is based in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Key Responsibilities:
• Aligns Walmart and Sam’s strategies with Diageo strategies to deliver the Diageo AOP, consisting of Net Sales, share , and price/mix targets, in addition to trade and A&P spend budgets
• Develops & presents annual Walmart JBP, innovation and brand merchandising plans in support of Walmart FY Plan
• Develops & presents annual innovation & brand merchandising plans in support of Sam’s FY Plan
• Leads monthly reporting and communication to Diageo and the customer, creating plans to improve performance where needed to achieve annual JBP and internal AOP goals
• Leads and Develops Strategic Relationships with key Walmart and Sam’s Personnel, Aligning Diageo Exec to Walmart/Sam’s Exec to elevate focus and drive alignment and Building strong report with Walmart and Sam’s Executive Team, Beverage Alcohol Merchandising Team, Marketing, Replenishment, and Operations Teams
• Leads, Coaches and Develops Direct and Indirect Teams within Diageo and its distributors
• Must work seamlessly with Category Development Director, Shopper Marketing Manager, and key distributor contacts to deliver annual AOP and JBPs
Qualifications and Experience Required:
• BA, with MBA preferred
• Minimum of 10 years sales/customer management experience with a major CPG company to include prior Account Team management experience (direct report management/coaching experience is a must)
• Walmart/Sam’s experience with strong customer wiring preferred
• Experience working across a diverse beverage alcohol distributor network (Open, Control and Franchise states) or other three-tier organization preferred.
• Advanced communication, negotiating & fact-based selling skills are critical
• Position requires strong data analysis and management skills in order to monitor and report account spirits trends and activities to customer and across organization
• Expected to be extremely self-motivated and goal-oriented.
