Role Description and Key Responsibilities
The Director of Procurement will manage all sourcing, purchasing, vendor relationships for the Bushnell business unit. The Procurement director will focus on developing a robust procurement strategy and a high-performing organization capable of maximizing business value from our vendor partnerships through effective management of $180M+ in spend. This includes (but not limited to) cost savings, cash flow improvements, supply optimization, risk management, data & systems, and supplier relationship management that delivers innovation access.
This role represents a build-out of Bushnell’s procurement organization and an opportunity to impact the business in a meaningful way through sustainable change and the deployment of best-in-class sourcing processes, which are likely to include category management, spend aggregation/leverage, analytics/intelligence, contract development, supply base consolidation, expenditure approval and control, and automation. This represents a significant but exciting challenge involving supporting the vision, building a team, creating systems, engaging and educating stakeholders, negotiating/partnering with suppliers, managing WFOEs in China, establishing metrics/KPIs and driving year over year performance.
Responsibilities and year-one success criteria include, but are not limited to:
▪ Focus on supply market intelligence through opportunity identification and validation, supplying market research, market forecasts and external market analyses.
▪ Relationship management - Develop and measure supplier performance, resolve customer issues and focus on supplier development. Integrate data and collect information related to indirect spend management.
▪ Strategic vision for direct supply management excellence through bench-marked processes and drive Continuous Improvement across all vendors.
▪ Executes critical cost-savings and vendor consolidation / transition projects currently underway
▪ Build organizational awareness and support in combination with dissemination of knowledge,
▪ Drive results and create a sense of urgency through process and project management.
▪ Change management as it relates to supplier development strategies.
▪ Keep up to date on category opportunities by bench-marking other industries to provide projects and programs custom to Bushnell
Professional Experience and Qualifications
All candidates must be broadly-skilled and strategic sourcing leaders with a high level of intelligence, business acumen, and executive presence, as well as a penchant for innovation, keen natural leadership skills, a transformative mindset. The Director, Procurement must be a self-starter capable of driving results with limited guidance and oversight and have strong collaboration skills.
In addition, all candidates must possess the following skills, experience, or attributes:
▪ 10+ years’ experience with procurement, manufacturing or engineering roles with a focus on best-in-class operational tools and practices. Broad expertise in procurement ranging from New Product sourcing to Strategic sourcing to Project Management and execution.
▪ Experience in consumer goods industry desired with experience managing domestic and global supplier network. Must have experience managing sourced products, with additional commodities experience a plus.
▪ Experienced at managing complex engineered products with demonstrated ability to drive continuous cost reductions through “Value engineering” and “Design-to-value” methodologies. Experience with Optical and electronics component sourcing is desired.
▪ Understands the total value chain and total cost of ownership and has delivered improvements in both cost and cash flow.
▪ Has cross function and direct leadership experience. Collaborative leadership style -- able to communicate and partner well across functions and suppliers. Builds a winning culture of transparency, creativity, professionalism and performance.
▪ Direct management experience is a desired with experience managing remote personnel a plus.
Education
A degree in engineering or other related technical discipline is required. An advanced degree is highly desirable; MBA preferred. Lean Sigma training and/or relevant procurement certifications are strongly preferred.
Compensation
A robust compensation package will be formulated based upon the successful candidate’s total current compensation package and is likely to include a competitive base salary, annual performance bonus and long-term incentive plan. Benefits will also be provided.
