Job Title:Director, Quality Assurance
Department:Operations
Reports to:Vice President Operations
Job Description:This position is responsible for overseeing the quality management system at doTERRA, to include ensuring response to customer quality expectations, regulatory compliance to applicable CFR’s and international standards, and continued alignment with doTERRA standards and strategic quality initiatives. The position provides leadership and guidance for personnel within the quality assurance department and serves as support and liaison for other departments.
Major Job Responsibilities:
• Provides input to executive management on industry best practices for maintaining quality in all products and services.
• Ensures understanding and compliance to the ethics, standards, policies, and personnel practices of doTERRA.
• Provides guidance for sustained quality system programs with a continuing focus upon improvement.
• Oversees development of personnel within the quality department; directs training programs and prepares employee development plans with succession planning for key positions.
• Ensures compliance with applicable CFR’s and international quality standards using effective management of subordinates and personal review of quality program elements.
• Oversees supply chain compliance through vendor auditing and qualifications, with emphasis on specifications and permanent resolutions to non-conforming materials.
• Develops and manages specific programs for Customer Complaint and Adverse Event Reporting, non-conforming Materials and Processes, Corrective and Preventive Actions, and product quality related Risk Analysis.
• Compiles and controls annual expense and capital budgets.
• Applies effective principles of communications in providing clear directives, soliciting the opinions of others, and evaluating alternatives for best decisions.
• Participates in Material Review Board actions, reviews and approves all change control documents, and approves verification and validation protocols with final reports.
• Facilitates the setting of both short term and long term goals of the Quality Department and ensures accountability for achieving results.
• Directs the use of metrics in process monitoring, maintenance of quality attributes, and trending of process performance.
• Provides timely and informative reports to management on product quality status, quality improvement initiatives, and quality management system operational and regulatory status
Job Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in engineering or related field preferred; BS degree with advance-degree-equivalent experience in production and quality management required.
• At least 10 years work experience with a minimum of 5 years directly involved in the operation and management of Quality Management Systems in a GMP-regulated environment such as pharmaceuticals or medical devices.
• In-depth understanding of GMP-regulated controlled document management principles, including production, approval, release, and control. At least 3 years direct experience with controlled document management systems.
• Ability to communicate a clear understanding of the DŌTERRA Quality Management System to internal management and to the management of all third-party manufacturers.
• Ability to work with all Quality Management System interfaces, internally and externally, to effectively implement and manage the system.
• Experienced level computer skills including word processors, spreadsheets, databases, quality management software, and statistical analysis applications.
• Periodic travel may be required. Must have or be able to obtain a passport which allows international travel.
