The Director Global Co-Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring customer demand fulfillment and effective operational strategy as it relates to any external manufacturing activities. This includes adherence to defined metrics of cost, quality, and service.
Job Description:
The Director Global Co-Manufacturing will be a dynamic leader with a passion for inspiring teams to achieve defined goals on an aggressive timeline. This executive will be a trusted business advisor and will demonstrate excellent supply chain leadership. Additionally, this individual must be ethical, energetic, and have a passion for driving transformation.
Specifically, the Director Global Co-Manufacturing will:
• Establish, manage, and oversee all aspects of the BDG relationship with co-manufacturing partners, both domestic and international.
• Source new co-manufacturing relationships as needed.
• Lead all operational aspects of contract negotiation, renewals, compliance, and modifications as required.
• Collaborate with commercialization personnel in all operational aspects of co-manufacturing initiatives for new product innovations, packaging changes, formulation, etc..
• Partner cross functionally with R&D, Quality, Finance, Package Engineering, etc..
• Work directly with Procurement/Sourcing to maintain and manage contracts.
• Ensure production requirements are executed successfully and deadlines are met.
• Troubleshoot and lead process improvements regarding production issues as they occur.
• Implement scorecard process and ensure ongoing compliance with all co-manufacturer performance metrics.
• Develop and manage best practices. Represent the entire supply chain’s interests in cross-functional initiatives.
• Train, develop, and coach two direct reports.
• Identify and stay up to date on potential co-manufacturing partners for current and future product commercialization.
• Conduct risk assessment regarding current partner relationships.
• Participate in decision-making process regarding self-manufacturing vs. co-manufacturing.
• Assist in transitions from co-manufacturing to licensee agreements.
• Act as communication conduit between BDG and co-manufacturers.
• Ensure co-manufacturers maintain adequate packaging and ingredient safety stocks to meet needs of business. Conduct site assessments on an ongoing basis with all domestic and international facilities:
• Establish and maintain international manufacturing and warehousing relationships.
• Partner with international business team to develop relationships in new markets.
• Lead design phase of manufacturing and distribution selection for new country startups.
• Review ongoing feasibility for each market producer.
• Network within industry forums to stay abreast of potential new partners.
The following experiences and/or qualifications are required:
• Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in sourcing and management of external food and/ or beverage production manufacturing relationships.
• Demonstrated success establishing and maintaining international co-manufacturing partnerships.
• Experience working with contract development, negotiation, and management.
• Strong process design orientation, to include training/certification in Lean Enterprise, Six Sigma, or other efficient design methodologies.
• Ability and willingness to be “hands on” in establishing new markets and relationships, both domestic and abroad.
• Proven success facilitating in group settings and leading supply chain-centric initiatives.
• Strong project management approach.
• Demonstrated track record of leading and developing people.
• Critical thinking and “bottom-line” decision-making approach.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple functions, participate in team meetings, and communicate effectively with multiple levels across the organization.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
The following items are helpful or preferred, but not required:
• SAP experience. Knowledge of food processing quality and safety requirements.
• Experience leading other disciplines within the supply chain, such as transportation or production planning.
• Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations Management, International Business or related discipline.
