The Director of Operations has primary responsibility for overseeing the manufacturing and operations activities and staff for the assigned facility. The incumbent ensures that manufacturing systems, procedures and controls meet FDA and other regulatory agency regulations and procedures and works cross functionally with other departments to ensure the manufacture of the highest quality products. Working in alignment with OSTA Operations Management, he/she plays a key role in the strategic & operating planning process to ensure that operations and manufacturing systems are in place to support the objectives of the businesses.
Job Duties:
As the Director, Operations working on the Bartlett Operations team, you will be empowered and inspired to do your best work. You will contribute to our mission by working closely with all supporting functions including, but now limited to Engineering, Quality, R&D, Lean, IT, etc... In a typical day, you will:
• Anticipate and resolve the highest level problems/issues that could impact the operational success of assigned responsibilities within the operations/manufacturing group and manages conflicting objectives.
• Long-term planning for your Site to ensure the operations/manufacturing organization is prepared to execute on volume, product transfer, and product development initiatives.
• Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives in the assigned facility in order to improve overall operations and technology, expand capacity, drive standardization and position the facility for the future based on the overall strategic plans of OGA.
• Develop, implement, and monitor effectiveness of systems and procedures to ensure compliance to all FDA and other regulatory agency rules and regulations.
• Supervise subordinate managers in fulfilling their responsibilities.
• Maintain responsibility for hiring and retaining a diverse, highly qualified staff and for providing career coaching, growth and personal development for direct/indirect report employees.
• Maintain responsibility for the development of staff: critiques, instructs, mentors, evaluates and coaches.
• Develop direct reports to assume greater responsibilities within the organization and empowers them to act in the best interest of the organization.
• Work with production management to develop effective materials planning, production, and inventory processes to ensure efficient product yields, cost reductions, and accurate tracking and accounting for materials, WIP, and finished goods.
• Ensure product is shipped accurately and timely.
• Working with all disciplines, develop, implement, monitor, and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
• Direct the preparation of special analyses and projects as required.
• Perform all other essential duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Manufacturing Science, Engineering or equivalent is required – a relevant advanced degree and working knowledge of medical devise design and manufacturing is desired.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible work experience in scheduling, materials, manufacturing, production control activities, manufacturing technology, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of functional management/supervisory experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• While technical expertise is desirable, the successful candidate will have demonstrated past leadership and management skills including problem resolution, employee coaching and mentoring, and a strategic vision.
• Significant direct experience leading and implementing lean- manufacturing/six-sigma initiatives i preferred.
