Job Description
The Finance Director has overall responsibility for the Finance, Controlling and Commercial functions, and is a member of the Executive Leadership team of the entity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Accounting & Reporting
• Responsible for compliant accounting and reporting processes. Insures compliance with IFRS, US-GAAP and US laws.
• Overall control over General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory Control, Collections and COGS.
• Responsible for correct year-end closing, auditing and reporting.
Tax & Auditing
• Responsible for compliance with US tax laws (i.e. sales tax, property tax, federal, state, transfer pricing, etc.).
• Responsible for interactions with external auditors.
Controlling & Production Cost
• Ensures correct reporting to headquarters and provides business relevant verbal comments.
• Responsible for determing pricing based on production cost calculation.
• Responsible for project controlling (after calculation).
• Provides, reports and steers project profitability.
• Provides financial and commercial support to Operations including training, advice, etc...
Business Plan & Forecasting
• Guides the organization toward reaching its financial targets for the next years.
• Sets realistic measures with the management team to reach their targets.
• Provides continuous feedback to the organization about the status of targets, and resets the planning toward a new forecast each quarter.
Drive Performance
• Monitors the performance of the organization and provides feedback/ updates to the individual departments.
• Must understand the different aspects of the Packaging organization and communicate with the different managers about the results and the impacts of their day-to-day operations upon the overall results.
• Acts as an accountability partner for commercial issues (i.e. contracts, payment terms etc.).
Pension & Healthcare
• Manages the self-insured healthcare benefits program with provider.
• Manages the 401(k) program and the frozen Defined Benefit (DB) pension plan with stakeholders (i.e. auditors, banks)
Compliance
• Responsibility for Export and Customs compliance.
• Aligns financial policies and procedures with company objectives.
• Responsible for all contracts, leases and legal requirements for the Company.
• Responsible for legal topics and concerns.
Commercial Functions
• Responsible for the Administrative Department.
• Supports the HR Department and processes including payroll.
• Establishes the priorities of the IT Deparement with the Management Team.
Supervisory Responsibility
• Direct supervision of the Financial Controller and the CFA Team, as well as, Export Compliance.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
• Must possess a Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business
• Must have a minimum of 5+ years leading a Finance or Accounting Department
• Must have at least 5+ years of experience in a Manufacturing environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• An MBA degree is preferred
• Strong Accounting and Controlling knowledge
• Knowledge of US taxes
• Knowledge of SAP is preferred
• Experience with AS400 is a plus
• Experience with pension systems and accounting
• Experience with self-managed health care system
• High level analytical skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Strong organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• German language skills a plus
