Overview
Plans, directs and leads the profitable growth of the district operation to ensure market competitiveness and organizational operational excellence. Manages and/or coordinates all district operating functions, specifically inventory management and quality, warehouse management, and transportation operations.
Responsibilities
The Operations Manager will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Main responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work flow; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Successful applicant will establish a team environment for problem-solving and responding to customer needs, building strong relationships with customers at all levels internally and externally.
Other essential responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Create and manage to district budgets, with an emphasis on operational and capital expenditure.
• Develop and nurture talent, coach, mentor, and support team members at an operational and management level.
• Analyze monthly financial reports and operational data, identify trends and bottlenecks with a focus on achieving district EBIT goals.
• Direct inventory and warehouse management efforts to ensure effective movement and controls are in place for maximizing profitability.
• Develop operational performance metrics, consistently reviewing results and implementing procedures to efficiently conduct business.
• Drive labor forecasting methods down through the operation, ensuring the transportation and warehousing teams are able to accurately forecast expenses and hit budget goals while providing a high level of customer service.
• Identify opportunities to decrease warehouse and transportation expenditure, analyze and streamline practices, procure new vendors.
• Effectively communicates and collaborates with the Director of Sales, DGM, and operations teams to coordinate, plan and optimize the sales activities as they transact through the business.
• Assists in the development of current and long-term organizational goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures.
• Champion CORT’s Safety Program, ensuring OSHA and DOT compliance.
Qualifications
• Four year college degree with a business emphasis and at least 6 years of managerial and supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Prior P&L responsibility.
• Knowledge of Accounting software; Inventory software; Project Management software; Excel Spreadsheet software and MSWord Word Processing software; Customer Management software to include SalesForce.com. Capable of conducting Internet searches.
• Current Divers' License. Ability to become Forklift certified.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
