Position Details
Reports to: Vice President, Engineering
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Director provides Equipment Engineering Leadership to establish Centers of Excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide the equipment engineering leadership, infrastructure, and support to the plants through development and implementation of SSB Production System.
Establish a Technology Roadmap to drive process innovation for JIT, SPF, and Lean Technology productions systems to deliver new products at benchmark QCD.
Responsible for new equipment launch into production and sustaining engineering of existing equipment for quality, cost, and delivery improvement.
Develop, establish, and maintain equipment designs/information regarding specifications, costing and margins per production line and/or production cells.
Maintain electronic databases of equipment/tools/fixture designs, spare parts, setup/work instructions, and TPM maintenance to benchmark the organization's knowledge base.
Provide detailed analysis for decision makers for capital investment business cases.
Improves equipment technology to drive labor efficiency, simplify manpower skills and increase availability
Support the implementation of lean supply chain, quality, and safety initiatives.
Design and carry out validations for internal or external equipment installation, operation, and process qualifications.
Work with Process Engineering on New Product Development Teams to guarantee smooth product transition from concept to delivery for new or existing processes.
Develop platforms for new manufacturing equipment and deliver a competitive advantage with financial ROI
Provide sustaining engineering design control for equipment automation life cycle management.
Project Management -- manage projects from conception through completion.
Acts as a player/coach to develop talent, organization, and process to achieve results.
FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:Experience, education, and training in lean techniques or TPS system preferred
Able to identify, develop, and lead projects independently
Able to excel in a team environment working internally and externally
Critical thinking and problem solving skills are essential
KEY COMPETENCIES:
Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to complete complex projects within prescribed timeframes
Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and conflict resolution skills
Possess tact, maturity, flexibility, and a high energy level
Comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with normal activities
Experience advising senior management
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Manufacturing methods, processes and technology
Shop floor/manufacturing/engineering of finished products
Strong orientation towards data and financial analysis.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Required:Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
15+ years minimum experience in manufacturing environment
Machine Design and Automaton
3-D CAD / Solid Edge,Works
Experience creating detailed equipment specifications and documentation
JOB FACTORS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Up to 60% travel
Work is primarily sedentary in nature

VP Engineering, Operations Managers, Maintenance Supervisors, Plant Associates, Process Engineering, Sourcing, New Product Development Team -- R&D, Suppliers, SVP's, RVP's Manufacturing, SVP Quality & Engineering.
