We are seeking a driven individual that will be responsible for the overall accounting practices of the company. Must take ownership and be responsible for the timely completion of accurate financial results monthly. Must have an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the financial results including content of balance sheet and operating results of the plant and farming operations. This position is the “go to person” for the company from an accounting perspective. Must be able to stay current with recent accounting pronouncements and identify those that will impact the company’s financial results or may require changes in procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Results oriented with string leadership skills and performance management abilities
• Ensure the implementation and achievement of company goals
• Passionate and values driven and must embrace the company’s core values of integrity, honesty and trust
• Provide leadership and daily direction to the accounting department members
• Oversee all aspects of daily accounting operations (General Accounting, Plant Operations, Grower Payables, and Internal Farming)
• Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
• Prepare monthly KPI reporting packages for the management team, including concise explanation of key financial developments occurring during that period
• Ensure timely and complete monthly, semi-annual and annual internal management and external financial reporting in accordance with IFRS
• Review and approve monthly reconciliations and journal entries prepared by staff as needed
• Handle budgeting, forecasting and analysis for assigned departments
• Manage the annual audit process, providing support to internal and external auditors
• Enhance and enforce compliance with accounting policies and procedures and internal controls over financial reporting.
• Responsible for hiring and managing accounting department heads
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the CFO
Required Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a CPA, an MBA is an added benefit
• 10+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, agriculture accounting experience is an added benefit. With at least five years of increasing responsibilities and two years of experience as a Controller
• Ability to design work flows and procedures to address accounting issues unique to the industry or work environment
• Ability to develop and foster a high degree of teamwork
• Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities
• Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP experience is an added benefit)
• Broad understanding of business processes, internal controls and procedures, and accounting principles
• Strong time management skills and meet and manage deadlines and expectations
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills including interaction with Senior Executives
• Balance between big picture and detail analysis
