HDFS’ Carson City, Nevada office serves as one of the Company's two operations centers. It’s where HDFS first established its roots in 1992. It is also home to Eaglemark Savings Bank, the Company’s lending institution, where all loans are funded. Carson City employees represent the loan origination and servicing business units including Collections, Funding, Underwriting, Dealer Services, and HDFS’ Cycle Insurance business unit. There are also employees who work in Accounting, Legal, Global Information Services, Risk, Enterprise Project Management, and Compliance who call this office home. Job Summary
This position reports to the Controller and is responsible for the corporate level accounting function. This includes coordination of monthly financial closes and reporting, overseeing accounts payable, overseeing the general ledger, overseeing payroll and special projects as needed. This position manages employees in the Accounts Payable and Payroll departments as well as the Corporate Accounting staff.
Job Responsibilities
• Manages and develops the Corporate Accounting, Accounts Payable and Payroll departments
• Manages Sarbanes Oxley testing and ensures controls are appropriate; supervises recording, reporting, and disclosure of hedging activity and disclosure of securitization activity
• Coordinates the monthly accounting close at the corporate office; reviews monthly account reconciliation and recording of monthly treasury activity
• Develops SAP financials and enhancements, and evaluates departmental IT initiatives
• Performs and reviews general ledger maintenance as necessary
• Coordinates preparation of related disclosure in Annual Reports, 10-Q, 10-K and proxy statement, year-end financials and assists Financial Analysis with the preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecasts
• Reviews recording of payroll and benefits
• Insures compliance with Cap-X, T&E, and spending policies, insures compliance with 1099 reporting requirements, and insures accounting compliance with SEC directives
• Protection of information and compliance with the law are paramount. Protecting employee, customer and corporate information is everyone's responsibility at Eaglemark Savings Bank. • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending training, establishing personal networks, and participation in professional societies
Experience Requirements
Required
• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
• CPA designation required
• Extensive management experience required with professional and clerical staff
• Working knowledge of pertinent pronouncements, including FAS, 52, 133, and 140.
Preferred
• Public accounting experience
• Securitization experience preferred
• SEC reporting preferred
• FX and hedge accounting experience preferred
• Sarbanes Oxley experience preferred
• SAP experience preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
