This is a great opportunity to join the PepsiCo Away From Home Insights & Category Leadership team.
PepsiCo Away From Home is looking for a results-oriented Category Management Director who thrives in a fast-paced environment with high visibility to sales leadership. This Director will lead a team of 10 working across the total PepsiCo portfolio to shape the strategic agenda for key Away From Home customers.
The Director of Category Management is responsible for leading the category management consultancy with our AFH customers She/He will be distinguished as a thought leader and provide recommendations on category management strategies and tactics to accelerate both category growth and maximize the growth potential across the PepsiCo portfolio. She/He will possess excellent customer management skills, be comfortable navigating ambiguity to define a clear direction on strategic projects and skilled at gaining alignment on strategic initiatives with customers. She/He will have well developed cross functional collaboration skills, and partner to leverage cross functional resources to shape and deliver an insights-driven category growth agenda.
With a team of 10, the Director will have a high people development focus to elevate the capabilities of the category management function within AFH and lead the talent management priorities within their team. The Director will foster and maintain key relationships between sales and other key functional partners such as shopper insights, shopper marketing and PCT Insights leads. She/He will coach the team to higher levels of performance and contribution, coach customers on best practices, and lead key initiatives such as optimizing assortment to deliver “perfect portfolios” tailored by channel, geography and customer.
The Director will collaborate closely with sales leadership and cross functional team members to develop and deliver category management expertise to customers’ overall category management process and develop and execute against pro-active insights agenda to identify and commercialize mutual growth opportunities. The leader in this role will work with our sales leadership and have an opportunity to build a broad business perspective and network of relationships across the organization while working on a tight knit and high performing team. This is an ideal role for someone interested in having significant impact on the business while also elevating the overall capabilities and visibility of the category management team.
SALES LEADERSHIP:
• Lead category management and insight initiatives for PepsiCo Beverages and Foods for our key customers:
◦ Pro-actively develop and deliver category and shopper insights to help grow their business
• Lead fact-based selling initiatives to drive sales growth and profit
• Lead development of strategy planning and AOP delivery for assigned customers/channels
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with key customers through superior objective insight development and presentation
• Identify strategic category management opportunities for Customer and PepsiCo that will drive sales growth along with positive net profits and share gains for both the customer and PepsiCo
• Maintain frequent, clear and open communication within and among functional teams regarding projects, insights and/or company issues
CATEGORY MANAGEMENT:
• Lead category management initiatives for PepsiCo products and their associated categories
• Coach, direct and support managers/analysts in regards to project and insight development
• Cultivate high performance culture with continual training and development of team members to enhance business knowledge, analytical skills and tool usage
• Oversee detailed analysis and reporting, maintenance of scorecards and develop and maintain customer specific tools
• Support field sales team by delivering insights and analysis capabilities on product and category reviews
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
• Critical and analytical thinking and strategic acumen – demonstrated thought leadership and ability to link strategies and objectives to develop an executable plan
• Disruptive and innovative thinker who is able to creatively problem-solve
• Strong, visible leader and skilled communicator who can drive an agenda both internally and with the customer
• Persuasive leadership and influencing skills to gain alignment, agreement, and commitments (internal/external)
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders and presenting to senior leadership
• Strong analytical and project management skills
• Prefer 8 -10 years of broad CPG Category Management, sales and/or strategy experience, preferably retail (CPG) industry and foodservice experience.
• Prior team leadership and people management experience preferred
• Must be willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
