The Opportunity
We are looking for a seasoned, proven leader to lead our Platform Engineering Team, in the role of Sr. Director, Engineering.
In this role, you will report to the VP of Engineering and lead a team responsible for architecting and delivering a platform that serves as the technical back bone for the front office/commerce processes of the company and delivers consumable APIs for our digital platforms and the ecosystem. In addition, you will partner with key stakeholders to execute flawlessly against our business and product roadmaps.
Responsibilities
• Direct Engineering Delivery teams; focused on, but not limited to, commerce platforms and systems
• Accountable for delivery of platform engineering strategy and governance across development teams.
• Lead diverse direct and leveraged technical staff; Responsible for hiring, retaining and mentoring the talent; Mentor and coach managers reporting to the position.
• Strengthen the development culture and lead by example so every team member executes
• Build and Lead a high-performance engineering organization with a strong leadership bench
• Drive the technical culture in an approach which focuses on scale, performance, APIs, ease of use, and graceful error handling
• Drive the technical direction of the platform and applications
• Responsible to plan & manage the budget for your teams and projects; Responsible for portfolio and resource planning for your areas.
• Responsible for delivering successful projects for that build/leverage the Commerce and related systems.
• Responsible for ensuring partnership and collaboration with various cross-functional teams like product management, process, project and program management, infrastructure, operations and business teams etc.
• Manage capital and expense budgets
• Monitor emerging technologies and manage current relationships with 3rd party technology vendors
• Provides direction and directives to direct reports in the performance of their duties, establishing work priorities, and in achieving company initiatives
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
• 15+ years of experience in the software development and high-performance enterprise systems with increasing levels of responsibility managing applications development, solution design and delivery, and process improvement
• 10+ years proven leadership experience, coaching developing and engaging technology teams.
• 7+ years of experience in managing and overseeing enterprise level programs, which require extensive collaboration across various groups in a matrix organization.
• 8+ years of extensive experience in internet/java/CRM/API/ERP/middleware technologies
• MA/MS and BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field strongly preferred
Communication Skills:
• Demonstrable presentation, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; able to communication across the organization
• Effective communication with stakeholders

• Self-driven, passionate leader and evangelist with expertise and experience of delivering full life cycle of architecture & engineering centered projects.
• Proficient at leading diverse, cross-functional teams; promotes relationships of trust

• Expert leader at delivery and execution in multiple SDLCs.

• Demonstrable leadership abilities in changing, ambiguous and challenging situations
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, and training diverse personnel in development, operations and quality assurance teams focusing on high performance and professional development
Technical Skills:
• Expertise in architecture & development application and platform components based on SOA architecture.
• Experience in building scalable, high performing and robust applications
• Mastery of different architecture frameworks such as MVC, AJAX, JavaScriptMC, MVVM and the trade-offs.
• Experience and passion to organize a fast-paced Agile environment.
• Experience and mastery of cloud enabled services / applications.
• Must have experience with Hybris, Salesforce.com, SAP ERP, and ESB/Integration/Middleware technology
