Provide strategic direction and leadership to engage entire plant operation in continuously improving Engagement, Safety, Quality, Productivity, Operational Excellence and Costs. Develop a leadership that ensures all plant employees can improve and sustain a zero loss work culture that drives out injuries and ensures products are safe and meet quality specifications. Manage all aspects of a 24/7 plant operation ensuring budget, output, and continuous improvement by engaging all employees. Directs, administers, and coordinates the activities of the organization in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the company.
Essential Functions
• Responsible for cheese and whey production so that all aspects of operational budget are achieved i.e. throughput, yields, quality, meeting customer requirements, cost control, safety and profitability.
• Coordinate alignment of business and production plans for operations.
• Optimize production operations through the strategic management of personnel, and operational and mechanical resources.
• Ensures standards for product quality, equipment, and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production efficiency.
• Identifying on-going opportunities for improvement that enables the facility to develop to its optimum profit potential and decrease the cost of production.
• To identify and implement best practices in Cheese and Whey production
• Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
• Perform Salaried PDP process and provide feedback periodically on performance, including disciplinary and attendance occurrences.
• Accountable for the development and management of an Operations team, always focused on operational excellence and resourced at the optimal level.
• Ensure all plant employees are responsible and accountable to maintain Glanbia GMP and site standards which include FDA, USDA and Idaho state standards.
• Ensure product quality and food safety by ensuring plant employee’s sustains quality systems ( HAACP, SQF, SOP, GMPs).
• Create a path of full compliance to environmental permits and all regulatory requirements.
• Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses, and upholds the culture of Glanbia non-negotiables.
• Assist with budgetary reports, analyze expenditure and track budgets.
• Ensure effective communication process that drives sustained performance.
• Identify training needs and conduct training when necessary.
• Provide leadership and direction to all plant personnel through direct and indirect leadership and coaching.
• Effectively directs and develops team
Additional Functions
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Ensure after hours response in the event of plant outage and emergencies.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Dairy or Food Science or a related field; at least 10 years prior experience at a senior level in the dairy industry or similar industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with commissioning and expansion of plant, experience working in a performance orientated plant and knowledge of Cheese and Whey processing strongly desired.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
• Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Knowledge of software applications in Aucad, Access, PowerPoint presentation, Excel Spreadsheets and MSWord Processing
Typical Physical Activity
• Regularly involves talking or listening, standing and walking, and the use of hands and fingers.

• Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
Typical Environmental Conditions
• May be exposed to loud noise levels (i.e. manufacturing equipment).
• May be exposed to humidity, intense heat, and fumes and toxic chemicals.
• May work in areas with mechanical moving parts, above ground with risk of fall, or areas with risk of electrical shock.
Travel Requirements
• Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
