REPORTS TO: Director of Accounting Operations
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Director of Accounting Operations will lead a team that manages the Month-End Close process as well as the Payroll and Consolidations processes. The role interacts with senior level executives so strong business and financial acumen are necessary and the capability to articulate strategy is critical.
The qualified candidate must be self-motivated and have a strong work ethic. The position is based in San Francisco and will require occasional travel to the San Ramon office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close procedures and ensure the timeliness and accuracy of internal financial reporting to management
• Work collaboratively to manage accounting policies, procedures, processes and business systems to ensure high quality and efficient accounting and reporting
• Work closely with outside auditors to establish a partnership that ensures Company is fully compliant and statements are issued timely and on budget
• Proactively identify opportunities to streamline accounting operations by developing and implementing efficient and scalable processes across general accounting areas, including management reporting and flux analysis
• Supervise, train and develop accounting and payroll staff, ensuring job responsibilities are completed successfully and career progression is supported
• Participate in special projects as needed
• Act as a key representative of the finance team in cross-functional groups and projects
People Management
• Grow and mentor accounting professionals
• Provide performance feedback and development plans
• Ability to cross department lines and work with others collaboratively outside of Finance
Requirements & Experience
• CPA required (active)
• 10 years experience with 5-7 years management experience
• 6+ years Big 4 required
• CPG experience a must; Retail experience in additional preferred
• IFRS knowledge a plus
• Hands-on experience with SAP ECC and Coupa is a plus
• Hands-on experience with BPC a plus
• Strong written, visual, and communications skills
• Strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, as well as macros, pivot tables, and charts
• Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed to meet deadlines
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail and accuracy
• Self-starter, excellent communicator, and team player
