Shutterfly’s Photo Services team is seeking a passionate Lead UX/UI Designer to create innovative, high-quality user experiences that delight our customers and drive business growth. Shutterfly Photo Services focuses on photo upload/organization/editing/sharing, and the connection of these services to photo product creation and commerce. We are looking for someone who is passionate about consumer services, social networking, and e-commerce. As a Lead UX/Visual Designer, you will collaborate with Product Management and Engineering on broad, complex problems that require outstanding practical experience and theoretical knowledge of both design as well as business.
We are looking for people who are inquisitive, humble, optimistic, collaborative, empathetic and creative. We want people who can pursue multiple paths equally, who love design but are not in love with their own designs. All our designers must be able to conceptualize innovative solutions, create user experience specifications, workflows and mockups, and provide expert evaluation of intangibles as well as develop well-crafted design artifacts. We do not want people that simply apply established patterns, but rather those who will dig in to understand the underlying issues.
The Lead UX/Visual Designer role is highly visible within the organization. The expectation is that you should be able to evangelize your ideas and provide leadership for the overall design vision and execution of your products. This role is expected to make significant contributions to organizational objectives directly affecting the user experience and our products.
Responsibilities:
• Drive the design for a products and services across a broad range of platforms: desktop web, mobile web and mobile native clients
• Collaborate with Product Management, Business, and Engineering
• Create innovative design solutions to solve enterprise and customer problems
• Create user experience wireframes, specifications, mockups, and interactive prototypes
• Create visual documentation and assets
• Initiate research and apply data gathered through testing and usage trends
• Proactively learn about Shutterfly’s business, culture and customer segments
• Work with the other members of the design team and the Product Management organization to apply and evolve Shutterfly’s design language
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in user experience design
• Broad experience designing compelling, user-centered solutions
• Experience producing high fidelity user flows and building prototypes showing animations and transitions
• Experience with user research methodologies and working with user researchers
• Experience translating design ideas to consumable deliverables for engineers
• Knowledge of user experience best-practices
• Passion for bringing innovative, new products to market
• Passion for information architecture and logical organizations
• Excellent knowledge of emerging technologies
• Ability to collaborate actively & effectively on multidisciplinary teams
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment
• Experience working in an agile environment a plus
• Bachelors or Masters degree in HCI, Visual Arts, Media Arts & Sciences, Industrial Design, Cognitive Science, Computer Science
