The position provides leadership, direction, and day-to-day support critical to delivering unsurpassed quality to all Earthbound Farm products, manufactured internally or at co-manufacturing locations. Accountable for cradle-to-grave strategic quality leadership, including integration of quality into business development, developing for the overall strategic quality leadership, directly integrating quality into the business, developing and execution a quality management system, and maintaining compliance to appropriate quality and food safety regulatory requirements. The position works directly with R&D, Agricultural Supply, Packaging, Production, Warehouse, Transportation and Logistics and other appropriate business leaders to ensure confidence in product quality and food safety programs. Lead the organization in the management of ongoing performance and adherence to specification and will supervise a staff responsible for quality systems, CAPA, supply and agricultural programs, production, warehouse, and transportation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quality Programs:Oversee the management and improvement of the quality of agricultural products and finished goods at all EBF facilities and co-manufacturers. This would include, but is not limited to, identification of critical quality parameters, appropriate verification/validation schemes and resulting business reporting capabilities.
Productivity: Lead quality productivity initiatives across the manufacturing network. Such initiatives typically will return $1MM+ annualized. . Continual research and identification of new technologies and processes to improve quality, as well as to apply TQM concepts to reduce process variation, improve quality and optimize cost.
Specifications: Develop, implement, and maintain standardized product specifications, process SOP’s and performance targets. Statistically analyze product performance to identify variability. Lead efforts with R&D, Consumer Insights, and Supply Chain leadership to drive statistically process capable specifications. Partner with R&D to ensure that manufacturing and raw material specifications exist and are current and enforced, focusing on product quality design. Develop and manage key metrics of the performance of materials and finished product against specification.
Technical Consulting:Provide technical quality expertise and tools to help optimize resources and quality while minimizing cost. Troubleshoot problems associated with EBF agricultural supply, ingredients, materials and product across all facilities; ensure root cause/corrective actions are appropriate and are fully implemented.
Strategic Consulting: Work closely with Agricultural Supply, Procurement, Production, and Logistics to develop appropriate quality procedures across the supply chain. Assess the impact of any market and/or supply chain process improvement to ensure quality is at the center of all final decisions. Support customer relations through information, investigations and proactive communication and data analyses.
Organization Development: Ensure the right resources are in place to adequately support quality and business needs. Responsible for the management and development of field and manufacturing quality resources supporting the EBF business. This includes effective use of feedback, salary planning, reward and recognition programs and development of individual development opportunities with integration of competency models.
Quality Culture: Shape food safety, quality and regulatory culture across EBF functions. Interface with key managers within the BU and represent QA as part of location leadership team, act as liaison between business stakeholder and operations to ensure stand/expectations are met.
