External Job Description
Regional role leading in the market activation. Role exists to enable EDGE and ensure Markets Drive “At Scale” National programs and platforms and focus on supporting and driving brilliant retail and market activation.
Role will lead and have responsibility for all commercial activation across the Region and will partner with Sales Performance, Execution teams, Distributor Trade development teams and CP&A/Brand to ensure the markets have the right Tools to activation in the right accounts to WIN at retail.
Dimensions:
• M&E – Understand what works and doesn’t – refine and adjust as we go to maximise performance
• Compliance – we will always be DMC
• Brand Aware – this role will ensure that brands show up at events and consumer gatherings in a way that is consistent with the brands purpose and tone
Financial
• Financial – Significant Budget Management responsibilities that must be focused against the right activation and markets to drive AT SCALE execution.
• Management of Regional Commercial Activation Budget.
• Partner with National Sampling, Retail Merchandising and Events to ensure Investment focused against the biggest opportunities for Diageo, and activation is focused in the right markets focused on the right consumers and accounts.
• Partner with Brand/CP&A on budget allocation
Leadership Responsibilities and Decision Making Rights
• Accountable & Responsible for the success of transforming how we plan and activate at retail in the market. Ensuring that our brands show up consistently across markets and that we focus our investments against the biggest opportunities for Diageo, activate the right brads in the right accounts.
• People Management: Inspire, coach and develop a team of 5-6 people
• Influential across many different stakeholders – local sales and execution teams, Performance management teams, Brand & CP&A teams, agency partners, and external parties such as Distributors and customers
• Project Management Skills will be important as this is a complicated and very large initiative covering many cities and planned/unplanned events
• Decision Marking: Comfortable making quick decisions ones that are not always popular. This role will often be the final arbitrator in situations where stakeholders are not aligned – you will make these decisions based on good intel and you will do so with pace
• Measurement & Evaluation will be important to help inform what’s working and what’s not and corrective actions will be made at pace – armed with good M&E data
Top 3-5 Accountabilities
• Drive AT SCALE best in class execution of programs and platforms to achieve market share growth
• Refine the way we think/behave/operate and work to drive local activation
• Plan and effectively execute and manage total A&P budget.
• Enable EDGE support tools
Qualifications and Experience Required
• Strong Commercial or Marketing Experience needed (+7 years)
• Can demonstrate strategic thinking and translate strategies into market plans
• Strong communication skills with experience working across large complex teams
• Must have proven results leading and developing a team.
• Must have strong influencing, negotiation skills and conflict management skills
• Financially astute and must able to manage a complicated and dynamic budget across multiple spend types and vendors
