Job Description
Position Summary:
This position will drive Business Development and relationship cultivation to secure business for Harman’s $2 Billion Consumer Audio organization. This role will leverage market and technology insights to identify and develop key global client and partner relationships across the Consumer Audio space. In addition, the role will focus on growing the existing business relationships with a focus on global activity with Samsung as a core partner. The role will lead in developing and facilitating the process for specific clients including contract negotiations, pricing development, proposal writing, and client presentations while working cross-functionally with relevant Consumer Audio BU Leaders and teams. The business development lead will be expected to deliver new business for the Consumer Audio team and will own key partnerships including vertical opportunities. The person in the role should consider their job to either (1) enhance the capabilities of our product organization (the BU’s) or (2) help drive business and sales success for our regional sales and marketing teams.

Job Responsibilities:
The position will drive new business activities across existing and potential global customers in the Consumer Electronics and Embedded Audio markets. The position will provide feedback to the Harman leadership team to remain in front of market innovation changes and customer trends.
Itemized Responsibilities:
• Spearhead global business development initiatives that are consistent with the Consumer Audio business strategy.
• Manage multiple business initiatives in an entrepreneurial environment with a very fast-paced Strategic Business Unit (SBU) playing in ever changing consumer audio market.
• Support all technical licensing development activities and relationship management, ensuring that all new ideas, proposals and partnerships are properly vetted, managed and followed up on maximizing the SBUs business growth.
• Responsible for all contract review and negotiations for Consumer Audio Business Development organization.
• Drive new revenue generation and strategic partnerships, development and management through customer interface initiatives.
• Interface with SBU resources in Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Innovation and Regions to leverage knowledge and efforts to maximize technical licensing sales and business development opportunities.
• Seek global new business relationships and opportunities within our global markets and across new segments, opening new channels and business opportunities for the SBU.
• Provide updated market feedback on the vertical market and target markets.
Basic Qualifications:
• Experience working with major global customers/accounts in creating, driving and executing successful partnership opportunities resulting in mutually beneficial growth.
• A proven track record for negotiating and developing contractual models with partners and customers.
• A proven track record of leading an organization through rapid and aggressive growth via organic and inorganic opportunities.
• Strong oral and written communications skills.
• Outstanding consultative abilities and interpersonal skills with executive level customers and partners.
• Proven evangelical sales track record in a new product/new market environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with C-Level executives to create results driven, team oriented culture.
• Minimum Business Degree required and J.D is preferred. Requires a minimum of 10 years’ experience, candidates with 15+ year of experience are encouraged to apply.
• Strong program management skills and cross cultural communication skills.
