General Description of the Role
The Plant Director is responsible for directing and managing the Distillery, Warehouse, Packaging and Maintenance departments. This position manages Labor Relations with the Union and provides support for employee engagement. This position is responsible for maintaining the highest quality, the lowest cost, with high safety standards across the operations while exceeding customer expectations on a daily basis with P&L responsibility.
Mission/Objectives
The Plant Director will manage the Plant Distilling, Packaging and Warehousing activities and staff to ensure all aspects of the operations are completed to produce a quality product with optimum efficiencies, quality and safety while driving continuous improvement in the operation.
Key Responsibilities and Activities
• Responsible for the Distillery, Packaging, Warehousing and Maintenance Department Operations.
• Manages the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the local union team to include all Labor Relations and grievance activity.
• Assesses systemic labor relations issues and activates program and/or projects to reduce grievances and drive a more productive and engaged workforce
• Sets the strategic operations plan and budget for the site and provides input to the capital expenditure plan and the plant five year capital expenditure plan
• Works with the Innovation team to provide operational support to meet the project expectations for new products under development and/or packaging change projects
• Manages large and small local projects to drive efficiencies & process improvements
• Directly supervises Packaging Manager, Distillery Manager, Barrel Warehouse Manager, Maintenance/Engineering Manager.
• Enforces plant and company policies and procedures
• Work with appropriate internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and/or to resolve risk when identified.
• Comply with TTB and other regulatory requirements. In coordination with the site H&S Manager, ensure all operations comply with GMP practices and site safety rules. Implement and sustain all relevant ISO and food safety standards. Lead and/or participate in safety meetings as designated.
• Set site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drives process improvements to close gaps for below standard performance.
• Works with Regional and/or Global manufacturing resources to ensure local compliance to Group manufacturing and/or process standards.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education
• BA/BS degree in Business, Engineering, or other relevant field of study.
Experience
• Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in Management of multiple disciplines in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in the Beverage Alcohol Industry is preferred
• Previous experience in managing vendor and contractor relationships a plus
• Previous experience in a collective bargaining environment is necessary
Skills
• Microsoft Office proficiency
• ERP experience (i.e. SAP) is a plus
• A working knowledge of TTB regulations, ISO requirements and Food Safety are pluses
Other Requirements
• Travel 10% of time
