Director, Channel Strategy - Large Stores

Function Specific Activities:
Position Overview
• Supports the development of annual channel plan built upon strategic insights (commercial, customer, shopper & consumer) to drive category and shopper value for our customers and value creation for our System (both NRS and Franchise) aligned to our 3 year strategic plan. (Large Store is Supermarkets & Mass Merchandise, ex Club)
• Partners with cross-functional teams and leads the translation of brand, category & shopper strategies into portfolio strategies, plans, & programs to drive revenue and profit growth
• Leads the development of channel Picture of Success and all related tools for large store channel
• Responsible for stewarding the plan to the System (NRS Customer teams, Franchise Leadership and Bottling Partners) and driving scaled execution of priorities in market across national chains and local accounts,
• Collaborates with cross functional partners (Shopper Marketing, Category Commercialization, RGM and Knowledge & Insights) leading execution of key strategic initiatives (ie retail / merchandising innovation, pack price architecture pilots) to capture learning to support decision-making and scaling of strategy and or best practices.
Function Specific Activities
• Support development of annual channel plan to drive revenue and profit growth collaborating with Franchise and Bottling Partners:
• Lead situation assessment for CCNA value creation in the channel, mining commercial, consumer, shopper and customer insights from multiple data sources
• Identify key opportunities for growth and how best to realize value creation given levers and System capability
• Gain alignment with Franchise and Bottling Partners on big best – the what, how and when
• Capture what’s working and not working across Franchise & Bottling Partners and share learning across the system for greater scale
• Partners with cross-functional teams and leads the translation of brand, category & shopper strategies into annual marketing calendar in alignment with commercial channel goals
• Represents ‘voice of channel’ in brand / category planning providing expertise based on commercial, shopper, consumer and customer insights
• Leads brand and event prioritization for key categories delivering clear guidance to field (the what, why, where, when and with what)
• Captures what’s working and not working across Franchise & Bottling Partners and shares learning across the system for greater and faster scale
• Leads the development of channel Picture of Success and all related tools (annual/trimester calendars, marketing and innovations, selling stories for select POIs including what good looks like in-store or online (brand and package mix, merchandising, occasion & price communication)
• Creates annual and monthly Picture of Success for key categories
• Develops frontline selling stories on the opportunity and the benefits to the customer and shopper
• Responsible for stewarding plans for growth to Franchise & Bottling partners and driving scaled execution of priorities in market across national chains and local accounts
• Leads identification and execution of key strategic initiatives to accelerate large store channel growth with Franchise & Bottling Partners
• Assesses opportunities across execution, OBPPC architecture, innovation, occasion activation and or merchandising, prioritizing based on insights, size of the prize and ease of execution
• Responsible for stewarding and providing gap solutions to drive channel performance
• Monitors the performance tracking of current channel initiatives
• Responsible for directing adjustments that will improve or bring plans back on track
• Builds organizational capability within Channel teams and across broader System empowering team members to provide channel/brand/package subject matter expertise (SME) to field and customer teams, inclusive of serving as SME presenting to customer teams & Franchise / Bottling on relevant topics
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Minimum Required: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred level: Post graduate studies in business
Experience
Minimum Required:
• 8-10 yrs. experience, preferably in the consumer packaged goods / beverages industry
• Developing insights-based strategies and translating them into executable commercial plans & tactics
• People leadership – specifically, experience influencing key stakeholders across the System including brand, NRS, and bottlers
• Monitoring and stewarding performance results and implementing changes to achieve plan
Preferred Level:
• 10-15 yrs. experience, preferably in the consumer goods/beverages industry
• Strategic brand management/channel strategy/category strategy experience
• Experience calling on/strong interface with Customers and/or Bottlers
Specialized Technical Skills
Minimum Required:
• Strong knowledge of consumer, shopper & category trends
• Shopper/Retail/Industry Insights mining & translation into actions
• Proactive opportunity identification and thought leadership
• Strong communicator and presentation skills Preferred Level:
• Familiar with Collaborative or Joint Business Planning with retail partners
• Experience building and implementing commercialization plans in market
Travel Requirements:
Up to 40% travel in US to Franchise and Bottling Partner territories
