Job Description: The Public Relations Director is responsible for developing and implementing doTERRA’s overall strategic public relations programs, including media relations, crisis communications, reputation management and thought leadership. This director will oversee comprehensive public relations and media campaigns across local, state, federal, and limited international constituencies to achieve short-term and long-term goals, including media training for all relevant executives and board members. Your ability to be a strategic thought leader will be integral to your success.
Responsibilities:
• o Oversee strategies and comprehensive media relations
◦ Develop PR strategy to drive and manage media coverage, working closely with doTERRA communicators, scientists, sourcing specialists, and the Healing Hands Foundation to develop compelling content and stories
◦ Execute on a multi-pronged PR strategy telling the doTERRA story
◦ Work with media outlets to publish timely company information: press releases, bylines, articles, health focused content, and other materials
◦ Oversee relationships with reporters, editors, bloggers, media influencers and media outlets
◦ Work with executives to advocate on behalf of the company brand with external stakeholders and the media across all communication channels and vehicles
◦ Evaluate media opportunities, facilitate media interviews, create press releases and other announcements
◦ Monitor industry and market-related news and events to assess opportunities for rapid response and proactive media outreach
◦ Write, edit, and/or develop content and press releases
◦ Work across departments to develop PR strategies for stories, events, campaigns, partnerships, etc.
◦ Analyze media coverage and develop effective reporting on the impact of media coverage and relations
◦ Recommend most effective methods of representing company image to public, executives and field
◦ Understand research techniques including analysis of media coverage and online conversation
◦ Monitor trends in public relations and apply that knowledge to increase favorable public perception
◦ Strategize with and educate executives, directors and others on management teams across the company on incorporating relevant public relations techniques into the corporate culture and into communicating about doTERRA
◦ Develop clear and concise communication plans, draft communications, coordinate review and approval processes and seek legal review when applicable for a wide variety of communications.
◦ Partner with Marketing, Corporate Communications, senior executives, colleagues and project leaders to create innovative communication options that integrate messaging and support doTERRA’s brand and mission.
◦ Collaborate on speaking opportunities that support the doTERRA mission.
◦ Conceptualize and develop new and interesting methods of communicating with target audiences through established media, bloggers, online outlets and more.
◦ Proactively and reactively offer PR counsel and guidance.
◦ Introduce industry best practices and make recommendations for continuous improvements to PR processes to achieve further efficiencies.
◦ Track and measure the level of effectiveness of campaigns and communications strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Technical Writing or related discipline that benefits the position.
• Held leadership role in a PR/advertising/communications agency and/or communications team in a complex corporate setting.
• Strong writer able to infuse desired "tone" into deliverables.
• Strong collaborator
• Ability to explain simply and clearly what can be complex solutions.
• Keen understanding of how to craft and communicate a compelling message, and the ability to influence external audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute impactful communications strategies.
• High degree of comfort working with senior management and across different functional groups.
• Outstanding interpersonal, teaming, verbal, presentation and process-facilitation skills.
• Strong track record of placing editorial material in external media outlets - traditional and social.
• Outstanding organizational and time-management skills for managing diverse and potentially conflicting activities.
