CORT, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is looking for a Director, Financial Planning & Analysis reporting initially to the Corporate Controller (but closely aligned with the CFO).
This position provides analytical support advice to business operations across all CORT divisions by collecting, monitoring and creating financial models for decision support. The person in this role will help improve financial results by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends and using that data to recommend actions that will support management’s strategy. The position works closely with business operations management to develop short, medium and long term forecasts for business units and manages quarterly rolling forecasts and annual capital budget processes.
Responsibilities
The person in this position will:
• Manage a Financial Analysis Team – 2 Direct Reports (currently remote)
• Improve financial results through analysis, monitoring of variances, identifying trends and making recommendations to management.
• Provide analytical support for short, medium and long term forecasting.
• Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives.
• Review capital expenditure budget proposals and provide management with recommendations.
• Demonstrate appropriate understanding/working knowledge and application of accounting principles and internal controls.
• Work with available resources to develop appropriate automated reporting and forecasting tools.
• Stay abreast of industry conditions and competitor activities. Prepare and maintain competitor analysis.
• Constantly evaluate current CORT businesses to identify non-value added processes and make recommendations to improve or discontinue.
• Provide M&A due diligence support.
• Work with senior management on company projects and new business opportunities
• Other duties will be assigned as appropriate
Qualifications
• Minimum BS Degree with emphasis in Accounting, Finance or Economics - MBA or advance degree/CFA preferred.
• 7 to 10 years business experience
• 4 Years managerial/supervisory experience
• Expert level analytical and financial modeling skills.
• Business intelligence and planning tool software experience.
• Problem structuring and strategic problem solving skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, knowing what to say and how to say it.
• High Emotional Intelligence – Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work cross functionally.
• A desire to make and influence company decisions – this is not a caretaker role – change is part of daily life
• Ability to travel up to 50%
