Position Summary:
The Senior Director, Automotive Experiential Marketing will be responsible for all aspects of Automotive Experience and Events globally. The One Automotive Experience was born from Harman’s three divisions, Connected Car, Car Audio, and Connected Service have different technologies yet share the same mission, and there is a huge opportunity to optimize and ignite our unique proposition. This person will oversee the linking of the automotive strategy yet focused execution to support Harman’s Customer Business Unit (sales) and Customer Marketing Tams teams to drive awareness and consideration of our technologies to OEMs and non-OEMs. This person should have a passion for experiential marketing and a thirst for making all experiences - big or small a representation of the technology selling strategy.
This role will report into the Global Vice President of Marketing, Connected Car Division.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position will have four (4) direct reports (US and Germany); cross-collaborate with APAC marketing teams
Job Responsibilities:
Experiential Events
• Partner cross-functionally with the Lifestyle/Car Audio Division, Connected Services Division, Advanced Product Marketing, Communications, Customer Marketing, Sales teams on all events. This person will create and execute a vision and strategy for the field team, national and local events.
• Responsibilities include annual planning, concept development, external market solicitation, internal ideation, and evaluation for brand fit, evaluation of cost versus benefit, event execution, event alterations, budget management, and overall knowledge of experiential marketing. The position has a heavy cross-functional emphasis that includes Marketing, Brands, Legal, P&S, Sales and outside agencies.
• Build awareness and consideration of Harman automotive technologies
• Oversee all events bringing to life Automotive 360 experiences including brand partners and while working with Content Marketing and PR to amplify social/digital/PR/media amplification
• Oversee event creative to live up to brand design standards; cut through the clutter to build a brand
• Ensure flawless execution of all events
• Partner closely with cross-divisional teams and functions on collaborative planning
• Establish event KPIs to measure effectiveness and extract key learnings from efforts
• Challenge the status quo on all event activation and processes
• Lead and accurately manage the experiential budget
Trade Events
• Oversee strategy and execution of trade-focused events to foster sales relationships and gain distribution at key trade events throughout the year
Leadership
• Lead and develop a global Experiential Marketing/Events team
• Build strong relationships with internal partners (Divisions, Communications, Marketing, Sales, etc.) to execute and collaborate with ease and efficiency
Basic Qualifications:
• Positive attitude, a thirst for knowledge, and an excitement for growing our business
• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or related field
• 10+ years’ experience specific to Experiential Marketing (agency experience a plus)
• 5+ years of experience in Program Management and/or Sales & Marketing
• Expertise in latest trends in consumer and experiential marketing
• Strong leader with a track-record of impeccable execution, excellent communication and collaborative partnership
• Self-starter who is extremely result and detail-oriented
• Highly adaptable and resourceful
• Thinks operationally, strategically, tactically, and analytically
• Understanding of Experiential goals and performance tracking
• Can manage a variety of agencies and be accountable for activation execution
• Able to manage a variety of agencies and be accountable for activation execution
• Exceptional analytical, quantitative, communication and time management skills
• Ability to manage budgets and present monthly and quarterly performance
• Able to expertly summarize data in charts and graphs, with a clear call to actions or insights
